We spent an afternoon in November in this place even though some work was being done to improve it. It was very good value for money for both adults and children were free.

Enjoyed the antics of the meercats which were in abundance. Butterflies and birds were beautiful - colourful and not the type you would normally see flying about in this weather. Not too keen on spiders and lizards and other creepy crawlies. The children loved it.

There is a lot to see but you need to tans still to see lost of it. The butterflies will fly right past your nose if you stay still, especially if you're not far from their feeding station. The turtles are very cute, but sadly their area isn't that large to be able to spectate for long. The fish are... More

Tropical World has been part of the scene in Roundhay for decades and the local children have all grown up with cherished memories of the place. There are various areas with different climates and creatures inside them and then the fish and reptile tanks and the joy of walking by the waterfall. Ollie the Octopus, with his very broad Yorkshire... More

A smallish establishment I believe owned by Leeds council as part of Roundhay Park. Cost to get in is £3.50 for an adult, £2.35 for 5-15 year olds, under 5s free...very good. Most establishments charge for 2 year olds and above. This place consists of a butterfly/bird house, aquarium, reptiles, nocturnal house, meerkats plus more. The kids are fascinated walking around especially... More

A nice afternoon out with friends and young children. Ample road side parking. The butterflies were a welcone joy and a sight to behold for the young and the grown ups!! The bat caves a must visit. Small children may find daunting. A relaxing visit at the same time yet educational. Roundhay Park literally across road. An afternoon well spent.

I grew up on this place and so did my children. It is owned by the tax payers of leeds yet a few years ago the council started to charge us in. I will not pay $3 to visit the place out of principle. Stick to Roundhay Park instead, its just a nice and FREE!!

It is always a joy to visit the Canal Gardens at Roundhay, but now with the added attraction of the Tropical World, it is even more attractive. Like Becca C I have been visiting Roundhay for many years, and Becca is correct in saying that it still has magical charms and has become (not gotten) Better as the years have... More
