Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family...

Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning!

It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds.

It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

A Wonderful way to spend a Day with Family

This is a place that will appeal to both young and old alike to while away a few hours on a cold and wintry day.

This is a hard place to review as its very reasonably priced £5per adult but I struggle to feel more than 'it was ok' We arrived at 2:30pm on a rainy Sunday to expect to walk straight in and joined a very long que which took about 15-20 minutes. There was an attendant eventually turning people away. Now when I... More

Fantastic place, a lot bigger than first thought, great selection of animals with out having to walk miles. Great layout with different zones. Been to places similar that have less variety and a lot higher entry fee.

This place used to be brilliant but I've not been for a few years and was shocked at how run down it was. Shabby, foliage half dead, only one butterfly, couldn't see the fish as the water was murky. Everywhere covered in bird poo the walls and ceiling quite soiled and quite smelly. Disappointed but probably still worth it if... More

Visited after a major refit but sadly not much improvement, over priced,we are pensioners and had only payed half the cost of the entry price and look a two year old with us,would not of liked to pay full price with a family of four, you can go round in half an hour,Leeds has better places to visit that are more reasonable

For a fiver I would definately recommend this place, for what it is, there are a good variety of birds and other creatures and I enjoyed it. It's all under cover so great in bad weather but be warned, in case you hadn't twigged from the word 'tropical' it is very warm in there and you won't want to be... More

Lovely place with loads of interesting animals but wasn't enough to keep my toddler interested sadly, think I was more excited about the meerkats than she was! Managed to catch feeding time at their enclosure which was pretty cool! Will very much look forwards to taking her back when she's a little older and can understand more :)

After debating with my good lady about what to do as the snow came relentlessly down from the big grey clouds in the sky, tropical world appeared on my google search 'things to do near Harrogate' like a ray of sunshine. What a wonderful day out we had. The line outside was a little long but this only helped to... More
