Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family...

Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest; stopping off briefly in the outback of Australia before a quick excursion through the desert, and all in the same morning!

It is home to some old friends that include rare birds, crocodiles, butterflies, bats, spiders, snakes and the meerkats - the cutest family in Leeds.

It re-opened in March 2015. This follows some stunning renovations that include the aquarium area transformed into a new Amazon themed zone where you can see new residents including piranhas and salamanders.

I used to visit this place as a kid, a lot. Recently went back to visit as an adult and I've now been twice in 12 months. It's a great collection of animals for a really reasonable price. There's no rush to go round and it's based in a great part of Leeds. I've visited twice on a weekend and... More

Had a lovely day with my god children here and it's really reasonable. I understand in some of it it needs to be warm but I was literally boiling all the way round. It has put me off a bit

We have visited Tropical World twice in two months while visiting Leeds in the off season and were happy both times, especially for the low admission fee. But I can see where things might get a bit messy during peak season with hoards of large visiting groups. It's not so much a WOW!! in your face attraction like a modern... More

Seems to have had some TLC since we last visited a couple of years ago. Interesting mix of animals and attractive exhibits. Kids were fascinated, especially the banana plants.

A nice place to visit with the kids. You walk round and see many different animals and insects. Nice glass garden in the middle with a water feature but is very hot obviously for the insects. The meerkats were good to see. Outside as a nice garden and a stone throw away is a nice park. Overall a good day... More

I'd been waiting to return to Tropical World for a little while and had high hopes following the refurb/makeover or whatever work they've been doing. Whilst it was still a nice trip out, parts still looking really tired unfortunately and I'd say there is more work to be done. It was slightly amusing but mainly upsetting to see the meerkats... Having visited tropical several times... We visited on a rainy Saturday. £15 for three adults and a free infant. We have always enjoyed this attraction, but something has changed. The entrance to the butterfly enclosure was dirty and shabby. We saw only two flying butterflies. The main aquarium section is definitely looking 'unloved' - a lick of paint badly needed... More

A lovely day the sun was out in strength mind so the butterfly enclosure was very humid, avoid if pregnant! There can be a lot of school children so watch out if you've little ones with you. 3 stars as I felt the restaurant was limited choice and over priced.
