The West Yorkshire Playhouse is one of the major regional theatres in the UK. The theatre programme stretches from Shakespeare revivals and modern revivals, to new writing and youth theatre. It is has a large bar area where people can hang out. The night I attended there were lots of families present, which gave the place a community atmosphere. There... More

I love going to the Playhouse - the productions are excellent, the theatres are lovely and spacious and the food is always varied and tasty. The only fault was that Little Voice went on until 10.25 and I missed my last train...

My first ever visit here to see 'Beryl' at the Courtyard Theatre. First impressions are good. There seems to be plenty of space in the bar/communal area, however not much seating in the coffee bar area although you can spread out into the bar area without too much trouble. Obviously the architecture is completely different to 'The Grand' so not... More

I first went to this theater when it opened way back when in the 90's. It was modern, but northern theater's back then didn't really attract too much. Things have (slowly) got better, but nothing much has been done over the years to this modern flagship venue. Naturally the Grand, and the City Varieties have both had face-lifts, (being a... More

Had a great time at the playhouse , the play was very good , 2 ex coronation street stars in it, the bar and restaurant were good , I felt the snacks area left a bit to be desired but I could pass on some suggestions I have to upgrade the snacks and drinks on offer. The queueing before the... More

I went to a seminar here - the rooms (we were in) are above the cafe and public area and the background noise from below was a bit disconcerting for an old fogey with poor hearing discrimination Venue easy to find - decent stroll from the railway station - saw bits of Leeds I may not see when the building... Like many theatres the WYP adds booking fees to ticket prices, so a '£12' ticket actually costs £13.75. Why not advertise it as £13.75?

Fabulous performance last night. Great seats 3 rows from the front. However, today's review is all about the marvellous care & medical attention I received when I felt faint during the performance. I left the theatre when I began to feel unwell and stepped into the foyer area with my friend. Immediately 2 members of staff came over to assist....bringing... More
