I have loved visiting The Grand for many, many years, so decided to take part in a 'behind-the-scenes' tour. It was great to see the parts of the theatre normally closed to the public, and hear how our ancestors used to visit the theatre over a hundred years ago.

Sitting comfortably in our seats, another couple arrived and claimed they had booked the seats we sat in. To my horror, it transpired our tickets were for the previous week, and I had got my dates wrong. We had travelled down from Cumbria looking forward to our Christmas treat, The Nutcracker Suite. Ten minutes before curtains up, the manager whilst... More

Visited with my fiancé to see the Nutcracker just before Christmas. I've been to the Grand on a number of occasions but it never fails to impress. We had a great view from the stalls. The Staff are friendly. The bar gets very busy though so book your interval drinks in advance. Lots of places to stay nearby, as well... More

This was the first trip to the ballet for my 4 year old and 6 year olds. I'd read them the story before we went and they were engrossed. This Northern Ballet production was colourful with some interesting takes on the traditional characters. The harlequin's 'worm' move was brilliant. My first visit to this theatre was almost 40 years ago.... More

Visited twice in October to see Kiss Me Kate which was great. First visit we sat in the stalls and had a great view and plenty of legroom. On the second visit we were seated on the balcony which was very far away and had no room to move at all and my legs were stuck in the back of... More

I attended the Grand on 14th November to see "The Girls" first night. The Grand is a beautiful theatre which has several balconies and is plush! It has red velvet furnishings and a classic feel. The show we saw was wonderful. It was fast paced, perfectly cast, had excellent music. It was an emotional roller coaster. The Grand was the... More
