This gallery is in a lovely old building with lots of paintings from different periods. I love it here and think they have done really well to keep it free.

I came here with the wife's parents and must admit, tried my best to get out of going. After failing to do so, I decided I'd make the most of our visit. I was not disappointed, found myself admiring work that is never picture myself admiring, and I found it highly interesting! A must for art lovers, and those who... More

Whenever I go to Leeds, it is usually on work related matters but, when I have the time, I pop in to Leeds City Art Gallery to see what's on. I don't profess to be knowledgeable about art in any way and, like most people, just like or dislike the things that I see but, whenever I visit this place,... More

This small gallery next to the Leeds Town Hall is an attractive space, with a surprising collection of a range of paintings, including some lovely Nash and Picasso. Well-informed attendants. The sculpture collection is also excellent - Moore plus! Spacious café and an excellent shop, with helpful staff all over.

We visit the City Art Gallery very often and always enjoy the experience whether in terms of the regular displays or in the special exhibitions . The WW1exhibition , for example , was superb and drew together a really moving mix of paintings , photographs and books not just about the war years but illustrating the longer term impact on... So noisy we could not hear each other. Staff were indifferent, It took a while to get them to pay us any attention. Other than that the tea was good. But will never go again.

We loved it! the pictures on the ground floor are particularly striking, and interesting - well-hung and lit, with plenty of room to sit and stare. Upstairs there are many more paintings by famous artists, and a return visit is definitely called-for. The restaurant is notable for its Art Deco style, don't miss seeing the ceiling!

Tiled Hall is an amazing venue with its walls covered in Victorian faience but until recently was not good for Coeliacs. The coffee was lovely and there was a nice gluten free salad followed by gluten free almond tart which was delicious. The down side was the fact that there were loads of staff tripping over themselves doing jobs but... More
