Though it is quite small, this gallery is nothing particularly special. A small gallery for special exhibitions, and the permanent collection rarely changes. Surprisingly little work from any of the many Yorkshire born artists.

Been here a few times and apart from the gallery at the back, the exhibitions change regularly. This time there was a ballet troupe in the cafe - to bring different 'art' to the masses. The gallery is free so you can pop in for 10 minutes or take your time. The cafe is lovely too!

The art gallery is free which is a massive bonus. We attended during British Art Show 8 which focused on our relationship with technology. The exhibits were all excellent though there were some I didn't quite understand. There was a mixture of medium which was good. The café food is a little pricey but looks great. The room is beautiful.

I've always loved coming here over the years, seeing the classics next to the new and ever changing exhibitions. The building its self is exquisite and when they opened up the cafe that only enhanced the building further. It's always been free of charge to come and get lost in thought of all the beautiful art so what isn't there... More

Friendly, not too big, British Art Show 8 - one or two nice things, loadsa stuff I didn't really "get" - but maybe you will, quite a few films, really professionally technically well installed. Food in cafe pricey for the quality, but it's a beautifully tiled room, coffee was nice £2.20, toasted mozzarella bagel £4.95, What I LOVED today was... More

It is always worth a visit here to enjoy the permanent collections and see what is there on loan. Sometimes it may be quirky but always a pleasant way to pass an hour or so in this great space. The shop is a delight and a lovely place to buy yourself a small piece of art.

This was my 2nd visit & confirmed my good first impressions. Generally Victorian & later with normally a surprising number of Stanley Spencer painting - albeit less well known ones. On this occasion these were hidden as much of the gallery was given over to travelling national exhibition of modern art but this had some interesting pieces of it's own.... More

They were having a special exhibit that took over the entire space showcasing British talent from contemporary artist. Well presented and easy to get around. It is not the largest museum and so easy to explore in a short period of time.

The good things about the Leeds Art Gallery are that it's free entrance and central. The place itself is nice enough, the staff we met were friendly. But the art was a huge disappointment. The fixed paintings were mostly poor, the travelling exhibition was obtuse and uninspiring. If you have a few minutes to kill then fair enough, but I'm... More

I had a great time wondering through rooms and gallerys over a 2 hour stay. In each area there was a staff member available to help out with any questions and I spent nearly 30 minutes having a brilliant conversation regarding some of the scuplture pieces on display. Area available for kids with interactive games and painting.
