The Gallery didn't open until 12 so we had a coffee before going back. There are different rooms showcasing different styles of art, all with a description on both the artist and the piece. They have a coffee bar where all the proceeds go towards the gallery and for a free exhibition it was great! They also do a picture... More

My wife and I loved the huge open space in which the Art Gallery is situated. However we were very disappointed to find that all of the Stanley Spencers had been removed to make way for other displays. Fair enough to some extent but having come a long way to see these pieces of art, we would have hoped that... More

I borrowed a wheelchair so I was at the perfect height to appreciate the small landscapes that are hung underneath some large Victorian works that are less appealing to the modern eye. Loved a small Atkinson Grimshaw and the Lady of Shalott. Also on the ground floor was a show devoted to Terry Frost, one of the St Ives painters... More

Maybe I judge too much from Russian perspective, but museum simply cannot pay such miserable attention to the art of 17th, 18th&19th centuries. All the masterpieces from these epochs are being held in one small hall, where las contemporary art occupies 3 or 4 huge spacious halls. The space in the former is not even enough for placing plaques in... More

I thought this museum was decent for a small free museum. There is a variety of types of Art in the different rooms and it is connected to the sculpture museum. There's enough to see without being overwhelmed. If you are just starting your visit to Leeds there is an information desk in the gift shop at street level and... More

Building is lovely! Nice collections on when I visited, but again not overly impressed, just like the museum really! I expected something grand from the outside but once inside nothing was really impressing me. I know all art is impressive but not what I expected! It was a Saturday and quiet and that was a bonus

This site seems to have divided opinion, though some of the more negative are really saying more about themselves than the gallery itself. The building itself is worth a visit and is enhanced by some varied and interesting artwork predominantly though not exclusively from the c.20 and by British artists. There is also some thought provoking sculpture. However some of... More

The photo display outside the museum was the highlight for our visit to the art gallery . Having gone with high expectations unfortunately Leeds art gallery could be put to better use not enough interesting exhibits to look at the upstairs gallery was closed no for me its a very boring place the staff certainly looked bored and I saw... If you want to visit a cafe and gift shop this is the place for you. Should an afternoon of art be your thing then try the local whsmith and buy some paint. Most of the place seems dedicated to wraps and cakes. The local art appeared to be restricted to a small space. Upstairs not open at all so... More
