If you want to visit a cafe and gift shop this is the place for you. Should an afternoon of art be your thing then try the local whsmith and buy some paint. Most of the place seems dedicated to wraps and cakes. The local art appeared to be restricted to a small space. Upstairs not open at all so... More

The tiled hall café in itself is a great attraction - a beautiful room - and really nice food - although no children's menu... The art gallery itself is beautiful - there were lots of things to do in the children's room and also some toys to play with. Well worth a visit if you get fed up of shopping... More

The problem with this place is it is never fully open at any one time. There is always a closed bit. There is usually someone to explain the visiting exhibits but not the rest of the gallery. It isn’t particularly well laid out, there is no time line or theme. But for free it will pass an hour on a... More

Second visit to leeds on short break, both times gallery closed. Clearly leeds isn't genuinely embracing the short break tourism trend by closing it's major assets on peak holiday days. I suppose I should have checked. I bet they are open stupid midweek days in darkest November. Same goes for the Henry Moore place next door. Go to the excellent... More

Spent an hour here with wife and friends. Great Art to view and a tremendous cafe selling lovely wraps/cakes etc. if you get a window seat you can watch the World go by. They have many discussions going on around the gallery which you are more than welcome to join. There was one on child birth whilst I was there.

The staff are wonderful and the place is great . The cafe is well worth a visit . Very grand building and immaculate. Leeds should be very proud of... More

We went specifically to see the Henry Moore sculptures but found plenty more to enjoy in the gallery. The craft centre is also well worth going to as they have some beautiful art pieces for sale. Have a look at the café even if you do not eat there.

The highly regarded Leeds Art Gallery was not its best on this visit as all the upper areas are closed for refurbishment. As this is one of our favourite provincial galleries, it proved an inopportune time to bring a granddaughter (who is studying at the university in Leeds) for the first time. Shame the curators couldn't have placed a temporary... More

Really disappointed upstairs closed for refurbishment as well as parts of downstairs for the setting up of a new exhibition. There seemed to be very little to see. I was surprised to see so little in the art galley of a major city. Hopefully when it's finished it will be worth visiting again. Entrance is free. Didn't use cafe but... More

Given the status of Leeds as a city the art gallery could do with more selection and design including more use of the lecture halls. The upper floor was also closed...
