I have lived in Leeds for ten years and, shamefully, only just got round to visiting the industrial museum. I am glad I did. The place gives a feel of industrial life in Leeds and how the many factories operated. I particularly loved the early 20th century cinema and the short film on the history of Leeds. Who would have... More

This place is packed full with information and historical objects. Lots to see and do with plenty of pratical demonstrations going on. The majority of the displays are based around the textile industry and its development and modernisation. However it was interesting to discover the role Leeds and West Yorkshire had in the development of the film business with the... More

This was my second visit to Armley Mills, this time in the day time with the same friend I went on the ghost walk with back in October last year. It was even better in the day with much more accessible and with the theatre also being open and showing old style films. We had a very knowledgeable guide who... More

Very interesting demonstration of equipment used in the 19th century to process wool by knowledgeable local man. Exhibits well displayed. Lots to see. Excellent value for money. No cafe though but picnic area available.

Really interesting from a historical point of view. The staff all really friendly and helpful. Such a shame leeds city council don't invest more money into the place that is the heritage of the people of leeds! The info around is great, the staff knowledgable. Went with all my family, parents, kids etc some part not east to access but... More

Really good place to visit. There are many floors and different things to see here. See the conditions how children and adults had to work in the mills. Very informative. We also saw some old trains A good day for the whole family.

Spent an enjoyable couple of hours seeing and listening to the guide telling us about the machinery and the jobs the workers did! Remarkable that much of this was happening little more than 60 yrs ago. Well worth a visit!

Had a great visit with the kids. The 6 year old was fascinated, but the 2 year old was bored, though there were lots of arts and crafts things out which she enjoyed. Leave the younger ones behind and do some learning with the older ones! We were just in time for a demo of the spinning mule and a... More

A great museum full of history. Well informed staff. Guide book helps with your tour. Lighting not too bright and has uneven flooring but it is an old building so visitor beware. Following its history is engrossing and fascinating. Well worth a visit although I think kids will be bored unless it is a special event.
