Great free art gallery upstairs and superb Julia Donaldson exhibition (pay £4 except on free Friday once a month) for the children which also had interesting letters from the publishers. A walk from the town situated but in a nice park. No café.

Don't be put off by some of the reviews about the location of this gallery. It is set in wonderful parkland and on the day I visited, which was a lovely summer day, it was very tranquil. The venue is magnificent and it must have been wonderful to live in this grand house many decades ago. I went to visit... More

Visited a few months ago and felt safe despite being a single person - wasn't sure why other(s) felt Bradford to be unsafe but had an interesting hour or so looking around the very well organised displays - very informative and thoughtfully laid out exhibits - very educational and the museum is in the middle of Lister Park, which also... I had never been before although I live near Haworth; I went specifically to see the exhibition of Rossetti's paintings of Jane Morris. These are beautiful, very well lit and displayed, although I wish there had been more of them! I find Bradford a very intimidating place; I went by bus and practically ran through the park to get inside,... More

Cartwright has changed very much over the last couple of decades, but it is still extremely interesting, informative and diverse with both Western and Eastern cultures displayed alongside each other.

Lovely little regional art gallery in Lister Park (see separate review). Some great pieces and well presented special exhibitions with stuff for kids to do. The gent's toilets are worth a visit if you like Victoriana

I went to Cartwright Hall to see the temporary exhibition 'Rossetti's Obsession - Images of Jane Morris'. I already knew where Lister Park is (in terms of where it is situated in Bradford), and this has somewhat put me off ever going there. It was a bit disappointing that there was a pretty nasty funfair in the park when we... More

Typical but in its way unique and worth a look. The history of Bradford from the Civil War when they were on the winning side but occupied through the very beneficial immigrations to the period when it was the World's centre of the wool trade and the heart of the industrial revolution to the present day where it is recovering.

On a blustery and wet Sunday afternoon my partner and I decided to visit Cartwright Hall and arrived at 2.30pm so as the museum closes at 4pm on a Sunday we only had 1.5 hours. What an amazing place - we started by looking at an exhibition of art work from local nursery and school children - some budding artists... More
