The Mill which was the largest there was when in operation is at the centre of Saltaire. It is a unique opportunity to see the works of David Hockney, buy books and stationery, eat, drink and enjoy retail therapy under one roof all in the heart of a Victorian model village. There are eating places, bars, cafes, shops alongside the... more

The Salt Mill at the heart of the UNESCO site is an amazing experience of quality shops and restaurants in the midst of the industrial archaeology of an old mill complete with various David Hockney prints and operatic scene designs. Don't miss a walk up into the middle of the village to view the four lions in the central square.... more

Living near to Saltaire I have not allways appreciated its importance as a world heritage site. I have visited many times over the years with my family. There is a great variety of things to do. You can walk up to the Glen, or take the tram. Walk along the river or take a boat. Visit the lovely shops and... more

Call and see the alpaca in the Congregational Church.Salts Mill a great place when it rains with it's shop, cafe & gallery. I guess I am biased as I grew up near Saltaire and in the shadow of this awsome place. The mill and its history captivated me and still does. If you visit Bradford or if you or your children love anything to do with art, history ,the industrial revolution or textiles, visit here. Not just the mill, but the village... more

The village shows the vision of Sir. Titus Salt in the 19th century about how to improve the terrible conditons that workers lived in. It is so complete & unspoilt you could imagine being there in Victrian times. Well wortha visit more

You can't help but get a sense of history wandering around this beautiful mill ... from the worn flagstones to the carefully preserved hoppers. While I'm not a fan of the David Hockney gallery, the rest of the mill has some fascinating shops and the fish restaurant on the top floor is excellent. more

You've got to take an overview of Saltaire first - a "model" town built for Sir Titus Salt with a church, library, college, rows of "superior" housing for the workers at the Mill. You step back in time when you visit Saltaire. The mill now houses an art gallery, currently showing a David Hockney collection, an exhibition hall, currently featuring... more

I thought Salt's Mill was going to be a museum-like affair something like Beamish Country Museum in Co. Durham. It isn't! The houses in Saltaire are all privately owned now, incredibly quaint and good for wandering round, but I felt a bit awkward gawping at people's houses. Salt's Mill itself is 90% a vast retail space, 10% a display of... more

Saltaire is a small village on the outskirts and Salts Mill is well signposted as a Tourist Attraction from the motorway. Saltaire was originally a woollen mill owners village. Sir Titus Salt developed the village for his workers, building small back to back houses around the mill area, the houses are now privately owned. Opposite the mill is an unusual... more
