In the heart of Coventry city centre, this huge Museum is home to the world’s largest collection of British road transport, and a visit whisks you away into a world of stories of real people, real passions and real hope. You’ll discover the stories behind the people who made Coventry the centre of the world’s motor and cycle industries, and get up close and personal with the actual vehicles that defined some of history’s most important moments. The Museum is laid out as a journey through time – you’ll wander 19th Century streets and discover the first bicycles, carriages and cars, then explore the first car factories and gasp as you witness their wartime destruction in the Blitz Experience. The journey continues through the Boomtown, Spirit of Speed and Ghost Town galleries to bring you right up to the present day.A visit to the Museum brings you face to face with Royal cars, military vehicles, and cars that played vital parts in their drivers’ life stories – none more so than the current Land Speed Record holding vehicle, ThrustSSC, which lives at the Museum. Not only can you marvel at this spectacular piece of British engineering, you can experience for yourself what it’s like to travel through the sound barrier at over 760mph in the ThrustSSC Simulator. « less

On a rainy afternoon in June we happened to be in Coventry City Centre and decided to pop into the Motor Museum as I hadn't visited for years (far too many to count). I was pleasantly surprised by the changes that had taken place in the intervening years and found myself amazed by the size of the exhibition and the... More

The museum was undergoing refurbishment while we visited but there was still loads to see. Everything from Victorian cycles to the latest Jaguar and lots of interesting history. Great to walk around and you can take as long as you like - the admission is free so fantastic value, especially for families. There is an option to make a donation... More

Interesting charming and free entrance museum. I would like to visit it again with the new rooms (currently under construction). Still it has been a really worth trip and visit. If you like bikes their history and cars, the best ones, well you will be sactisfied of visiting this museum. Bring with you a camera with many Gbytes.

You can get lost in this museum, it is just fantastic. As an enthusiast I have visited all the top UK based motor museums and this is up there with the best of them, despite it being FREE. The Thrust Supersonic simulator was very good and worth paying the extra bit of cash for as it is the only chargeable... More

What a fabulous museum. Didn't realise what a contribution Coventry made to the cycling and automotive industry. A great selection of cycles, motor cycles and cars to view. A terrific blitz experience section and you can see 2 of the fastest cars in the world. Kids would be easily entertained too. And it's free.

Very nice experience and history lesson for everybody. I feel like coming back in time, so my 85 teatr pls mate could see vehicles from his young days.

For a free attraction there are some prized vehicles here. As Coventry was a major manufacturer base I am not surprised but is heavy on the early models such as the 30's, 40's and 50's but only a few manufacturers. Was under partial construction at the time so would be good to see the finished article when the revamp is... More
