I love this place, visited many times during university... Charming old style cinema yet still has good quality projection and sound. A great way to spend an evening or rainy afternoon and ticket prices are often better value than the big multi screens.

The one cinema in Birmingham that shows decent films, and although it doesn't offer the kind of comfort (unless you pay extra for a sofa) or large screen you get in a multiplex, the old-school atmosphere is priceless. We'd all be the poorer if it weren't there!

Comfy sofas, food and drink ordered by text and delivered to our seat and watching a movie in the UK's oldest working cinema made for a memorable date night. Ideal for couples, friends or alone. It's a little pricy to sit in a sofa but well worth it for a trip to the cinema with a difference. Can't wait to... More

My boyfriend and I chose to watch a film here over a modern cinema and thoroughly enjoyed it! It is quaint and we had the joys on sitting on a sofa and texting for for and drinks to be brought to us during the film. Don't expect modern, flashy screens and you will enjoy this alternative to what can be... More

Great experience being able to eat and drink on a sofa in front of a good film. Feels a little tatty and the area is currently quite run down and a building site, but promises to be much better in the future. The cinema needs a facelift but better scruffy than not at all. Great charm and atmosphere

3 years ago I hired the upstairs for a birthday party, we got to view a film of our choice and play PC games on the screen. We still try to go at least once a month. The audience are quieter and seem more relaxed than in mainstream cinemas. There is always a great range of films. I highly recommend... More

I came here on a date and we had a sofa for our film. Great atmosphere, and nice touch with being able to get wine for the showing!

I've seen a few films here and it helps that there aren't as many seats as in major cinema chains. The seats and the text waiter service compliment it all. The history of the building and the set up make this place a hidden treasure in Birmingham.

Went to see Joe. Good film, Nicolas Cage was back to his his best. But the cinema can't get enough plaudits for me. Itr is what a film experience should be and compares very favorably with the same old same old chain cinemas around the country, which whilst not that bad are not special. Surprised there are still only two... More
