Love this cinema. Have been several times. I love the fact that you can take a proper drink (or a cup of tea) into the cinema with you. Treat yourself to some nuts or a hunk of cake!

We went to see Ironman 3 and we were sat on the leather sofas, which were great value considering that normal cinemas are so expensive now. The tickets are quirky and we have kept them since our visit. We also loved the text the bar service, where we ordered drinks and brownies. A wonderful night!

I've visited this cinema a few times now, and it has never been anything but excellent. I visited with my boyfriend (who is 6ft4) and we sat in front of some patrons in the sofas, which are more costly than the standard seats. The porter came in about 3 minutes after the film started, and asked us very kindly and... More

This is a true gem in the city. As the oldest cinema in the UK it has so much character. There are only 2 small screens but this makes it really intimate. There are sofas as well as normal seats, a good range of films showing, and instead of overpriced popcorn and cola that you would find in chain cinemas,... More

This cinema is the oldest in the UK and only has two screens for film viewings. The screens offer normal cinema seating or premier seating (sofas) if wanted at an extra charge. I thought the cinema was a lovely experience and somewhat different to a normal cinema visit, the cinema offered alcoholic beverages served in glasses and cocktails and wine... More

The cinema is the oldest in the UK. It has two screens one upstairs and one down. Both areas have comfortable sofa seating at a premium and ordinary seats if required. The customer mat partake of alcoholic beverage and homemade cakes etc. These may be replenished by a phone call to the box office and they will be brought to... More

First visit to the Electric and was looking forward to viewing the Art Deco architecture. What a disappointment, apart from the facade (which wasn't that impressive), there were few, if any, original features. Overall I thought the place was dirty, a little smelly and may I say, rather seedy. Expensive too.

If you want to get away from the crowded, popcorn- stench of cinema chains, look no further than The Electric. Arguably the oldest working cinema in the country and an old 'dodgy' cinema in the 80's this place is very cool. You can buy normal seats - under £7 at my last visit, or hire a leather sofa. You can... More

Nice place to see a film as a change from the usual big screen chains - nice old building with great character. For an extra fee you can have a sofa seat with drinks brought to you - nice touch.

Great little cinema ..... Easy walk from from train stations, nice little bar and a good selection of drinks, cocktails and nibbles. A small cinema , worth the money and for something different go for the leather sofas. You do need to book online to secure seats as very popular at weekends.
