If you're a cinema/movie maniac, like myself, then visiting the oldest working cinema in the UK should definitely be a must while visiting Birmingham. Nothing special, really, but the awareness of watching a movie in such a special place makes a difference. Regular seats rather uncomfortable, though...

My partner and I are regulars at the electric. The films shown are picked with thought. I don't think we have seen a bad film at the electric. I have to admit we always treat ourselves to a sofa which are great value for the extra comfort. Others cinemas in Birmingham can't compete for us

Forget the bland Odeon/Multiplex this is a charming good old fashioned cinema for the mature or serious filmgoer who likes to relax and watch a film.

I'd never been to the Electric until yesterday. What a lovely little cinema! It's so lovely to not to have to go to an awful 15 screen place with too many people munching on popcorn and making a racket. BTW, no popcorn at the Electric. Not allowed! It's cake! And who doesn't like cake?! The seats were really comfy and... More

This is my favourite cinema full stop. Which is why we chose it for a venue for my 40th birthday. Hired the place and chose the film, what more could you want. Everyone who came and had never been before was smitten with the place. The staff made it all very easy, I can only recommend it :)

I really wanted to like this place, but it turned out to be a rather a glum experience. We were on the bogart sofa which is 13.50 per person, which I think is pretty steep. Firstly I was really hot, the air seemed laden with a strange sweaty smell that seemed to be oozing out of the sofas and carpet.... More

A fantastic, original cinema with style, substance and class! A very good range of both mainstream and obscure films. A lovely bar with loads of drinks and homemade ice cream, cake and chorizo Etc. Comfy starts and tickets cheaper than your usual chain cinema! I will definitely be returning!!
