I have enjoyed on many occasions the beautiful grounds and fine exhibitions, in fact I have become a member of Compton Verney.I have eaten often in The Lawn Restaurant..Yesterday I went with friends and ate there.Sadly the service was wretched, 3 of us had virtually inedible fish pies. When we complained, our complaints sumarily were brushed off. We won't be eating... More

Compton Verney is a venerable country house in extensive grounds, with an excellent collection of art and artefacts from Europe and Asia, with a changing programme of special exhibitions. The gallery part is beautifully done, and there are some really interesting items: check out the Cranachs, and the portraits of Elizabethan nobles. There's an extensive collection of ancient Chinese objects,... More

At the outset let me state that my 'Poor' rating refers only to the wildflower meadow & not to Compton Verney as a whole, which is worth visiting. We read about the wildflower meadow in a magazine article & being interested in the work of William Morris - the meadow is based on Morris's 'Trellis' design wallpaper - thought we'd... More

Took the children for some fresh air and it's such a beautiful place . The children's play area has a zip wire which they all loved. It's a lovely walk up to the house where there is a cafe , shop and restaurant. Cafe has a fair selection of snacks and drinks, the shop has lovely gifts and not your... More

Spent a day here with a friend and a group of 6 children. The adventure playground is great fun and will keep them entertained for hours. But it was the craft activities that they loved. This summer (2015) they can make a room in a box! There is a huge variety of materials to use and plenty of staff to... More

Compton Verney hosts various special exhibitions as well as having excellent permanent collections. The well kept gardens are beautiful for a stroll. Visited the current Arts and Crafts exhibition, and the smaller but fascinating silver exhibition - great to see the film and now I will appreciate hand made silver items more, having seen how painstaking it is to produce... We LOVE Compton Verney, we live locally and now have an annual pass which pays for itself after just a couple of visits. We have lived here for 6 years and didnt visit here for the first 4 thinking it was a "boring gallery" we could not have been more wrong! Compton verney has something for everyone. It has the...
