We have been here in both summer and winter and have enjoyed ourselves. The grounds by Capability Brown are spacious and allow the children in the summer to run around safely. The house itself has to be seen with a guide to get the full history of the place. There is a cafe serving everything and the prices are reasonable.

We went in the winter and it was cold inside the house, there were visitor guides in each of the rooms who were able to tell us some of the history of Compton Verney. There was enough information to make the visit interesting and worthwhile.

This is an extraordinary place. Set in beautiful grounds (if Capability Brown landscapes float your boat), the rooms of this 18th Century Adam house have been turned into intelligently curated art galleries with collections that rival anything in the Tate or National. The temporary exhibitions do provoke thought and discussion, but I'd like to see them be as adventurous as... More

Loads of room for the children to run and shout ,plus the play area is fantastic. My son loves taking his nerf gun here too. The cafe is nice and the restaurant is a great place for lunching with friends. This is a great place all year round.

We visited Compton Verney as a place to meet up with friends. We were pleased with the seasonal extras such as the welly walk which our children aged 9 and 7 enjoyed collecting stamps on. In the house there were craft activities which we didn't have time for but we did the treasure trail which gave the children something to... More

Wonderful setting for a beautiful art gallery, stroll trough the park & along the lake before going into the house. The galleries are small enough to enjoy the collection without feeling overwhelmed. All the staff very friendly & helpful.

We were so pleased to have visited Compton Verney before the Periodic Tales Exhibition finishes on Sunday. I can thoroughly recommend the guided tour at noon which, today, was delivered by David who was both informative and humorous. He brought the whole exhibition to life. We paced ourselves with a delicious lunch in the restaurant. All in all, a great... More

Just spent an afternoon at this wonderful gallery. The house is magnificent, sitting as does on the edge of a lake. Lots of work work going on with a new visitor centre going up next to the car park. (10 minutes walk to the house, but shuttle bus available to the front door) The paintings although not all my cup... More

A great collection of art that spans 3-4000 years in a beautiful setting of a stately home with beautiful interiors and grounds which would be nice for a summer walk. The £8 admission is well worth it.
