I booked as a treat for my husband a first class one way trip from Snow Hill to Stratford-upon-Avon on Sunday 31st August. His face was a picture when she steamed through Snow Hill and what a wonderful site to see. I had booked a two seat table in the first class carriage for full English breakfast (you do have... More

Just enjoyed a wonderful afternoon on this steam train, such character and workmanship! The carriages are comfortable, you can opt to dine or just enjoy the trip. The staff work constantly, collecting rubbish etc to make sure it's a journey to remember. There were lots of them to help and point you in the right direction. Would definitely go again,... More

We went from Moor St to Stratford-upon-Avon with the family. It was a lovely experience to go with our grandson who loves steam trains! The volunteers were very helpful, giving us lots of information about steam trains around the country, past and present. A thoroughly lovely day to remember!

This season of Shakespeare Express runs have just started, every Sunday now till 7th September ... this year we introduced our grand-daughter to the experience on her first birthday. What a great day out, leaving Stratford-upon-Avon around 12.30 and arriving in Birmingham Snow Hill at 13.40, then, after a short stop to move the engine to the other end of... More

It is rare to be able to travel by steam for any decent amount of time these days so the Shakespeare Express gives a glimpse into what it is like to travel in an older carriage (1950s I believe) propelled by a steam locomotive. That said, in someways there is not too much difference to taking the normal train except,... More

Fantastic day out for me best friends birthday treat. We like to make an annual run out the mainline with steam trains each year, but due to other commitments we weren't able to do a long distance on this year so decided to try the Shakespeare Express. Well! Fine food in in 50's coaches pulled by a magnificent ex Great... More

It was my son's birthday and he has always been a fan of steam trains so for a treat we took the family out for the day on the Shakespeare Express. The trip was excellent with the staff on the train were knowledgable and happy to answer questions. The only drawback was the seats are not suited for people over... More

We got on at Tyseley Station. The car park was a five minute walk (up hill) from the station. When getting to the station we had a large flight of stairs to get down. Once at Stratford upon Avon we then had to climb a multitude of steps/bridge to get out of the station. Our party included a child in... More

I am sorry that you had problems with the Network Rail station facilities at Tyseley and Stratford-upon-Avon. Although we offer free parking at our Tyseley Depot, we do recommend that anyone who has any difficulty negotiating steep stairs or has push-chairs does not use the Tyseley station. Both Birmingham Moor Street and Snow Hill stations are a lot more accessible.... More

My partner and I travelled from Birmingham to Stratford and back on a marvellous steam train - I had completely forgotten the feel of its rythm. We had chosen breakfast for the outward journey and high tea return. The staff could not have been more attentive and efficient, and the quality of the food was outstanding - plentiful and freshly... I booked steam train ride from Stratford to Birmingham and back for my fiance who really enjoyed vintage trains, cars, buses.... It cost me £55 per person to go premiere with sunday lunch. Premiere class itself it's nothing special. Food was ok but the portions were really, really small. If you are planning to go I would recommend to just... More
