This fifteenth-century, charming thatched cottage was the childhood home of Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare's sweet-heart and wife.Experienced guides explain the stories behind the Shakespeare connection and the history of some well-known English idioms such as "chairman of the board".There are nine acres of gardens and grounds to explore including a lavender maze, a woodland walk, the Shakespeare arboretum and a living willow cabin where you may listen to some of Shakespeare's sonnets.

It's an interesting place to visit with super knowledgeable staff. There are info sheets at the entrance which give you an interesting insight to the different rooms of the building. Unfortunately it was quite crowded so you couldn't really stay in one place and have a closer look. The surrounding garden is beautiful and a stroll in the woods definitely... More

We visited at the end of the day. We had bought a Five House pass which was great. Called in here just for a look see really. You have to remember it is very small and very old. Not much to see but the value is in the sense of history. Garden very similar to that at the Birthplace and... More

The cottage and gardens are beautiful but don't take long to traverse. Fortunately we kept walking and went through a beautiful buttercup-filled meadow followed by an arboretum. There were lots of seats so it's ideal for picnic fans. We bought the Shakespeare five houses pass and did three buildings on the first visit, returning weeks later to check out Mary... More

We really enjoyed our day visiting the Shakespeare properties courtesy of the hop on hop off bus service. My daughter enjoyed the half term activities provided by the team. The guide in the house was interesting and knowledgeable. Loved exploring the orchard and sitting in the sonnet arbours. Good refreshment facilities across the road.

What kind of ticket do you want--all five houses...??? For the unsuspecting traveler, tourist, being greeted by a barrage of questions about the kind of ticket one wants is awful. It's confusing, time-wasting, and tedious. ...did I mention expensive? Very. Not that much to see, and I have seen in all before several years ago when there was not this... More

The guides here are superb. They bring the place alive by sharing their enthusiasm and extensive knowledge about the house, Shakespeare's life, and the surrounding areas. Don't miss it - it's fascinating.

We reached the cottage by using the 'Hop on Hop off' bus which takes you to most prominent locations. The cottage is delightful, well maintained and even boasts original parts.

It was ok. The free chat in the house was good but there isn't enough to see for 10 pounds. The forest walk is pretty uninteresting and seems like an attempt to fill in patrons time. Probably better value if you parcel it up with the other houses etc but for us as a one off visit, it was a... More

So traditional and so much a part of the Shakespeare story you have to see it. Take the tour bus which stops there and include it in the price of the ticket if you want to save money!
