We were lucky enough to get a table to the Dining Experience in the Theatre Royal. First of all you don't go for the food !!! ......... Soup, Lamb Shank & a slice of cake of some sort !. Abit disappointed with the food, but the show made up for it. Basil, Sybil & Manuel were great. Lots of sketches... More

Booked 3 seats for the panto in person, paid by DEBIT card and was charged an extra £1.95 per person for this " pleasure ". I have NEVER been charged for using a debit card for payment.

During a recent visit to Newcastle we had booked tickets at the Theatre Royal to see "Top Hat". We walked past the theatre on our first day in Newcastle and noticed they had organized tours of the theatre available, including the day of the performance we were attending. Seemed like a good idea to see behind the scenes and this... More

This theatre has been beautifully renovated and is attracting top quality shows and entertainment. There are numerous bars and restaurants nearby for pre-theatre eating including the theatre's own eatery and bars. Getting to the theatre is also very easy as it is very close to car parks/metro station. Also for regular visitors you can become a Friend of the Theatre... More

We recently attended a performance of La Traviata which is the first visit we've made since the theatre was refurbished. The cast (particularly the female lead), the orchestra and the staging were superb and we thoroughly enjoyed the production which is why our overall rating is 'Very Good' as we didn't feel 'Average' was appropriate - isn't there a case... The Theatre Royal has been renovated to a high standard, it looks wonderful. However the seats in the stalls were terribly uncomfortable, other people complained and some even suggested taking a cushion, which I will do next time. For the ladies there are two restrooms, one each side of the auditorium, both clean and modern, gents is on the left,... More

We have just seen 'The Coronation of Poppea' which was brilliantly done by OPera North and thoroughly enjoyed our experience in the Theatre Royal yet again. Staff fantastic and the theatre is a joy to be in. The only thing I would say is that the lack of cloakroom facilities detracts from the theatre ambience because you have to fold... More

This is a thriving theatre but expensive, stalls seats £55 each and no concessions. Programme £5 you feel that it makes a very expensive night out.
