great armosphere and loved the show, however some of the audience shouting would have preferred them to be less vocal at times. Loved the show and atmosphere and ordered drinks for inteval and they were there ready when and where specified. not cheap cost over 150.00 which is more than have paid for many in London with weekend packages but... Excellent production of Shakespeare's Two Gentlemen of Verona. As with all of his plays you soon get totally absorbed in the language and this was a superb evening in a beautiful theatre. Acting was brilliant as you would expect from the RSC. Have to agree with a previous reviewer that the seats do seem to be a bit uncomfortable after... More

I've passed the Theatre Royal many many times over the years, and always appreciated its architectural beauty (within a beautiful street), but finally took a trip down to go inside. We saw the RSC production of Two Gentlemen of Verona, and the theatre seemed wonderful as a performance space. It's actually a little 'reverse tardis', in that from the outside... More

It's always a joy to be in a theatre designed by Frank Matcham because you know you are in a building that will fullfill all you're expectations if it - great views, great detailing, history and most importantly great acoustics. So many modern theatres seem to forget about those things and manage to undo or ignore the fine achievements of... More

Have visited the Theatre Royal countless times since childhood and always left impressed not only by the quality of the shows but the majesty of the building itself. It's quite like a trip back in time whether you're going to see a classic play or if you're covered in your wife's make-up and doing the Time Warp. The layout is... More

The RSC put on their Henry IV part 2. It was excellent beyond belief. They know how to put on a show ! Small niggles - seats were not as comfortable as previous - I've never noticed before - perhaps it was just these particular seats. It takes too long to get served at the bar in the interval. But... We were having a pre show meal as it is difficult to book many places at that time. The food sounded better than it was but was still very pleasant. The service was good but a bit slow and we kept worrying that we would not get our meal over without a rush for our seats. Overall in the end... More

A wonderful Theatre in the fantastic Grey Street......the decor is magnificent & it's always a must visit around Christmas time for a Play. The cafe & outside seating area is a welcomed addition too.

This is not a show I would have chosen but I like the Theatre Royal and have never been disappointed. The show was excellent, really super entertainment. The cast was energetic and seemed to be really enjoying themselves. I left with a really good feeling, singing and dancing to the songs as were many of my fellow travellers on the... More
