If you ask me this is well over rated, it is not much more than a walk alongside the River Wear. I appreciate that it is a 'wildlife' refuge and the wildlife concerned may not choose to collaborate with your plans. It is a nice day out but I would not go out of my way to go there. More

We have visited here countless times, and are members. The place is simply perfect for a walk with young children. Great cafe serving lovely home cooked foods. Seed bags available to by to feed the birds - kids LOVE this! Fab gift shop, clean toilets. A highly recommended place to spend a couple of hours. More

We have visited the Washington Waterfowl Park on many many occasions over the years and never had a bad word. They offer the chance to see so many beautiful wildlife which is great for all ages. They give you the chance to get up close and personal & feed some great birds. There is a lovely little cafe overlooking the... More

She's 3 and did enjoy the afternoon, but a felt if I'd paid to get in we'd have been disappointed. There were a fair few things to see, but nothing seemed particularly well geared to childen except a... More

This is one of the best places to bring kids in Sunderland in my opinion! Absolutely fantastic! The kids loved the birds and the otters, and it is a really pleasant place. You can stay here all day. They could do with adding a few more amenities, but that isn't a huge problem. More

Had a great day here. Went with young children who enjoyed the open spaces and learning about the different birds. They have a brand new otter enclosure which is fun at feeding time. Loads of picnic tables for your feeding time along with a big play area suitable for all ages of children, especially liked the water play. Lovely walks... More
