Tynemouth longsands....what a lovely place to be. A walk on the beach a plodge (pants rolled up and walk in water) in the cold North Sea a coffee in the cafe whilst you watch the surfers! The old outdoor pool needs brought back to life though!...then it will be perfect

shame about the odd dogs poo lurking about from disgusting dog owners who failed to pick it up, a shame as its such a lovely beach, but wont take my son back for that reason .

We regularly come to this huge clean golden beach. If the weather would only comply you could be anywhere in the world, but the north sea will always be a few degrees cooler than you'd like. Kids love it though

Longsands is a long sandy beach (!) with rock pools and is great for paddling, swimming, diving etc. There is parking and cafe/loo facilities very nearby. Definitely worth a visit

Really wowed by the beach and the walk along the front. It was blowy and cold but the walk was clean and just what you would want for a couple of hours out. Next time I wouldn't pay 80p per hour for the parking which has you looking at your watch all the time. Far better to turn up a... More

If you live in the North-East, Longsands is one of those places you have on your doorstep, but that people not lucky enough to live locally travel to see. Unlike many such places, it's thoroughly appreciated by the locals and rarely empty. It's a wonderful place for a walk, surrounded by enthusiastic kids, dogs, families, ramblers and surfers. The scenery... More

It is a very beautiful beach perfect if you like to swim among lots of waves. Although it is a little bit dirty over the summer due to the large amount of people that visit that area. Nevertheless it is a very advisable view; mostly during the spring and early summer.

like many of the north east beaches from seaburn upto alnmouth. They are all give the opportunity for long walks on sandy beaches. usually with beautiful blue skies. If only the temperatures could match, but then they would be packed and you would not get near the beach.
