I was a little unsure of which ale to try, being new to real ale. I was advised by a very polite and knowledgable young lady. I think she was blonde, quite short and from the sounds of it, from Manchester. She knew her stuff and made me feel very welcome. Whenever we're back in the city my wife and... More

It's a Wetherspoons so you know what you're getting. This is a nice building with a few different rooms spread over a couple of floors.

Had to wait more than 20 mins for a cup of coffee, staff didn't give a monkeys. "We didn't know people would want coffee" and "we're busy" are just two of the less than stellar excuses given. The breakfast came with no butter, "we've run out" and the bacon was a strange grey colour. I've never eaten grey bacon before,... More

Not your typical wetherspoons, located in a large old building with lots of smaller rooms leading off the main stairwell /entrance. Good location opposite main railway station. Typical reasonably priced food and drink, friendly staff and good atmosphere Visited a number of times when working in city

I went there for a work reunion, and had been warned that as Newcastle were playing Man U at home to steer clear until after the mass departure for the kick-off. There were then very few customers remaining. My first choice of real ale was “not on yet” - so why display the pump clip and have it on a... More

This pub/bar/restaurant is part of the Wetherspoon-chain. The building is beautiful both from the outside and the inside. The menu is what Wetherspoons have, a little of each. We took the 2 for 1 choice and it tasted good. There is Another Wetherspoons on Westgate not far away and one on Quayside as well.

It's great this pub, sweeping staircase, preservd rooms, great furnishings - oh and it's a pub that sells food and drink - bonus. You can't go wrong with a Wetherspoons pub anyway but this one is special and worth a visit.

Probably the most characteristic and intriguing Wetherspoons I've been in for a drink. Has 3 bars and a warren of different rooms to drink and dine. Also, had a wide selection of beers.
