We have visited the Union rooms on several of our visits to Newcastle & have NEVER BEEN. LET DOWN The wine list is very good & the Price for a bottle is excellent, as for the beers there is a very good selection of draught, bottled & real ale all at very good prices. As i am a beer drinker... More

We always visit here as soon as we arrive in Newcastle. It's a lovely building, plenty of room and very central. There are always good drinks offers on and are so much cheaper than some other fancy bars just along from there. It could do with some decoration and TLC but still worth a visit.

A pretty good Wetherspoon's. The decor inside is very posh, more akin to a hotel than a bar! The food is also good, and they tend to have better drinks stock than the nearby Mile Castle Wetherspoon's, which doesn't do guest ciders and has less ales, plus less of the specialty beers and wines. It's quieter than the other bar,... More

I always try to visit this when I'm up in Newcastle for work, it's a beautifully restored building with various bars on two floors. The food is the usual good value JD food, and they have a good selection of beers, and seem to make an effort to get local ales in. I enjoy eating in the bar upstairs, and... More

This is a building worth wandering around - it is enormous with very high ceilings and a splendid staircase to the first floor. I liked the family room which is the only room to allow children in and on our visit was an oasis from the left hand downstairs bar where the Arsenal supporters were making their presence heard whilst... Called in yesterday before going to see Neil Young. The food was filling and what you expect in a Wetherspoons pub, very reasonably priced, nothing fancy but suits my budget. The building itself is amazing, had a chat with a local who told me about it's history and about one of the City's MP's, Mr, Cowens, who was probably the... More

Been to this Wetherspoons on numerous occasions, centre of Newcastle and very busy on football days as its only a good ten minute walk to St James's . It's absolutely crowded on a match day. Building is on two levels and shows live football. The entire premises is a bit on the tired size, probably because it is used so... More

I used to go here quite a bit, mainly to meet mates from Durham before the match. It's an impressive building from the outside but on the inside its in bad need of a refit - it's looking very tired. This is a shame because its got the potential to be a great venue with its warren of rooms spread... More
