As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design. « less

This is a very popular place, great range of films and choice of eating rooms. Amazing events, and really good value for all ages.

I love the Tyneside Cinema. It's a lovely little place with a great atmosphere, decent drinks and great coffee. I've been on a number of dates here and can't recommend the place highly enough.

Every visit here is a real treat. From the independent screenings, Art Deco surroundings and informative displays about the cinema's history, this is the ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city streets. The staff genuinely care about their art and the diverse screening and events programme means there is something for everyone.

Has been a while since we have been to the Tyneside. Enjoyed the live streaming of the first episode of the new Dr Who last night. Extremely comfortable seats. Beautiful venue. Lovely new bar and you can take drinks (even bottles of wine) into the cinema with you. So very civilised. Much better experience than the big multiplexes.

This is the best cinema in Newcastle. Please go here instead of the huge multi-plex options. You can sit at sofas and drink beer! Another reward is comfortable seating, great sound, and audience who watch the film respectfully without chatting and eating all the way through (Odeon special that one), as well as a beautifully illustrated history of Newcastle cinema... The Tyneside is my favourite cinema, one that treats customers with the respect and good service they deserve; the beautiful building doesn't harm either! The Tyneside has 3 screens, the smallest is the Roxy - an intimate screen with very generous leg room and seats at times almost too comfy, you may need a coffee if you're feeling a little... More

Had never been to a multiple showing cinema before and was impressed by the facilities and size of screen and quality. Sound was too loud but avoid the back row of premier seats or people behind you are still kicking you in the back.

I loved this Art Deco cinema and it was really comfy in the twin leather seats in the circle. I was saddened we were the only ones to see the film in the circle area which was more expensive but I felt this was a bit more of an experience than going to the cinema. A lovely hidden gem friendly... More
