At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

As far as I'm concerned this is the best place in the world. The range of films, screenings and events they have on here is amazing, the seats are comfy, the food is good, and the staff are really friendly. The clientele are always really respectful as well, so you can watch a film in peace and quiet, without having... More

Arranged to have our wedding here in June. There are no words to describe how amazing the team are. They helped make us feel so special and helped create some of the most amazing memories. We got married in the Classic Screen and it was amazing all of our guests couldnt get over how beautiful it was. The extra touches,... More

An amazing cinema that is to retro, nice leather couches to snuggle up in. This could well be the nicest cinema we have been in.

Since moving to Newcastle this has quickly became my favourite Cinema, easily overpowering the generic ones elsewhere which have little tradition or atmosphere. This cinema has a few different screens, with the main screen being in a theatre format, offering a more traditional way of enjoying film. Tyneside is great for catching new & upcoming indie films which aren't often... More

Visited on a Tuesday afternoon with teenage son. The entrance fee of £5 came as nice surprise ( there's a deal on a Tuesday) , we were able to choose our seats and chose the premier seats, lovely comfy sofas with lots of leg room. The theatre itself is really interesting, posters on the walls telling its history, friendly welcoming... More

I hadn't been to the cinema for years ( not since the kids were small ) but was persuaded to go with some friends. The Tyneside is so friendly each film being shown in very comfy, roomy settings. You can eat beforehand and take your glass of wine in to the film.I have been so impressed I have bought 3... More

Whether you're meeting friends in the bar, using the meeting room facilities or going to see a film on your own, the Tyneside Cinema is super comfortable, welcoming and offers a much better experience than any chain cinema! Great choice of films and extra events.

An independent cinema with a wealth of interesting features and great choice of films main-stream and otherwise. If you like cinema this is the place to go in Newcastle - and they've got a great bar as well.

Felt like a change of pace from the usual chain coffee shop, so my twin and I called into the Art Deco style cafe/tearoom on the second floor of the cinema. It's licensed to serve wine, has a great selection of cakes, speciality drinks available (sea salted caramel latte was very enjoyable) also serves light and main meals. Can highly... More

The was first time i have been to this venue for thirty years. I went here because i had been away and missed seeing this film in mainstream commercial venues. I liked the venue and also that it still tries to promotelocal arts and retains it place as one of Newcastles venues and values during these times of austerity and... More
