As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design. « less

This cinema is very go ahead with a good selection of classic films. it is in the Art Deco style and is worth a visit just to see the building. Its tea rooms serve a variety of snacks and meals at a reasonable price.

I love visiting the Tyneside as seats seem spacious and it always seems much cleaner than the larger cinemas.

what I like about this cinema is the fact that it is an Art deco movie house with several screens and very selective about what the films they screen.

A Newcastle institution and rightly so. An excellent choice of films shown in a very characterful and comfortable building. The audience also shows a lot of respect for the films and fellow viewers too. The associated tearooms and bar are also great places to meet and chat with people. This is the place to see a film and enjoy it.

I've been to the Tyneside loads of times to see a wonderful selection of films, from Its a Wonderful Life at Xmas time to the Manhattan Short Film Festival and I just think its a lovely venue to catch a slightly more alternative movie.

This cinema is small and beautiful. Nice change from the commercial cinemas. You can get a cocktail from the bars and drink it while enjoying your film. Very civilised!!!!

A beautiful old building that shows proper films and attracts nice customers. You'll rarely find the noisy, inconsiderate folk that frequent mainstream cinemas, at the Tyneside Cinema. They even run free film nights in their bar upstairs where they'll show classics. We even considered this as our wedding venue as they got their license last year!

A haven of tranquility in the centre of Newcastle. A glass of red wine whilst watching the film was an experience I really enjoyed. Well worth a visit, lots of film choice too.

Really excellent choice of films in several cinemas- very grand seats if you pay a bit more. Good tearooms as well for a snack meal. Highly recommended.
