As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design. « less

The Tyneside is my favourite cinema, one that treats customers with the respect and good service they deserve; the beautiful building doesn't harm either! The Tyneside has 3 screens, the smallest is the Roxy - an intimate screen with very generous leg room and seats at times almost too comfy, you may need a coffee if you're feeling a little... More

Had never been to a multiple showing cinema before and was impressed by the facilities and size of screen and quality. Sound was too loud but avoid the back row of premier seats or people behind you are still kicking you in the back.

I loved this Art Deco cinema and it was really comfy in the twin leather seats in the circle. I was saddened we were the only ones to see the film in the circle area which was more expensive but I felt this was a bit more of an experience than going to the cinema. A lovely hidden gem friendly... More

The "Tyneside" is hand down the best cinema in the region. I have been dozens of times over the past two years (since I discovered this gem) both with the Mrs or in a corporate capacity with work. I've been impressed with the cinema every time I've been, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The cinema itself attracts... More

Tucked in a backstreet this is an amazing place. Great history, brilliant atmosphere and the only cinema worth visiting in Newcastle. Keep up the good work.

As my daughter is a Cinephile, I visited on her behalf. Nice place and I know it has lots going on ie: private party nights. Can't really comment on the food as I only had a scone and a coffee which was ok. Might try the cinema next time I'm in Newcastle so I can feel the whole experience when... More

The Tyneside is the best cinema in the area. I love the fact that it's possible to see the less popular films and have smaller screens/audiences. There's a licensed bar and you can take drinks in to the auditoriums. Really friendly, helpful staff. Only downside is the exhausting stairs. There must be a lift somewhere?
