At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

First time visiting the Tyneside Cinema and I wasn't sure what to expect. It reminds me of what I'd imagine visiting the cinema in my parents/grandparents era was like - very different to the likes of the Odeon, a much more intimate setting but still very cosy!

I booked the digital lounge for a friends hen party for 20 guests. From the booking process onwards I found the staff to be friendly and professional. We had a private viewing of a film of our choice and the room is booked for 3 hours which allowed time for a buffet and some hen party games before the film... More

This is a great cinema in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. You can have ghetto normal popcorn etc but also gave a drink in the bar and take it with into the cinema. The cinema had a refurbishment a couple of years ago and looks really good. Try it, you'll like it

The Tyneside has always been a favourite since my youth. The ambience initially is of an art deco, bijou cinema for just cinema snobbery. You will be wrong if you write this gem off like that. Hidden inside is a classic combined with state-of-the-art technology, accessible cinema, for grown ups of all ages. If you want the prepackaged film experience... More

Beautiful Art Deco cinema which shows a broad range of films from art to mainstream. I love the fact you can drink wine while watching the film. All the cinema screens are comfortable but I particularly like sitting in the circle of the classic where you can enjoy sofa & arm chair seats while enjoying the Art Deco surroundings. Fantastic... We are now travelling on a regular basis 30 miles to watch films in this fabulous cinema . Everything about the experience is a real pleasure . The café bar downstairs and my particular favourite the Classic Cinema.

Just popping in to see a film is strangely no enough for this place almost hums with history. The joy of a well organised cinema experience with a diet worthy of anywhere is always enhanced by the beauty of its architecture. For me I must visit the cafe/ restaurant with its mixture of old favourites and the new. This place... More

Great film, didn't notice how long it was as very engaged plot. Really enjoyable, especially in the sofa seats!

Although I've not been to Tyneside Cinema for a while - the Odeon at the Metrocentre being more easy to get to from my home - I decided to call in yesterday as a pre-Christmas treat while in town. I was attracted by the showing of an old favourite " It's a Wonderful Life." What a glorious experience it turned... More
