At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

A wonderful experience. More than an attraction, Tyneside Cinema is a lifeline to the past and the future of specialist cinema viewing. It never fails to deliver in terms of entertainment and overall ambiance. Whenever I wonder down Northumberland Street and cross the road, I resist the temptation to turn right towards Monument, because I always enjoy taking a sneaky... More

Every other Monday at noon is the Silver Screening slot. Book well in advance for Seniors tickets, its usually packed. Went to see "Woman in gold" yesterday, newly released. Had an early lunch (brunch?) at 11am in the lovely Art Deco cafe, the waiters are swift so you don't miss the beginning of the film. Great value and comfy seats,... More

Its got to be one of the best. I am afraid to say we were just visiting Newcastle with our 9 year old, so went to see a morning kids film. But it is very apparent this is a well loved and beautiful place. Every floor you climb is stunning, some of the old cameras and projectors, the decor, the... More

Before moving away from Newcastle I spent hours and hours and hours in this beautiful place. Even if the film you see is rubbish, the cinema is always consistently excellent! So many great special screenings and events, beautiful interiors, normally a great choice of film programming. There is something indescribable about the Tyneside Cinema, it has that certain je ne... Very comfortable seating and a lovely warm atmosphere in the cinema. Watched a brand new film by a film maker from Newcastle. It was a film made in Delhi by Shakirul Alam.

I always look forward to a film at the Tyneside because its such an enjoyable experience from the friendly, helpful staff to the period features and very comfortable seats. You have to choose where you will be sitting when buying your ticket so get there early for popular films if you want a good position. You do pay more than... More

Me and me partner always try and go to this cinema when were in the city, we love the Art Deco interiors and the cafe/bars it has, it is slightly more expensive then your usual odeon type cinema However it makes up for it by the experience and the quality of pictures it shows. Another great feature is the free... More

Art Deco style cinema with a lovely atmosphere. The bar and cafe are both very nice plus it has the added bonus of being able to take alcohol into the screening too.

I still feel like this a hidden gem in the centre of Newcastle even though it's always busy. A fantastic variety of films in comfortable surroundings, the ability to have marvellous food & drink before &/or after the film & friendly knowledgeable staff - what more could you ask for!
