At the Tyneside Cinema, we give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves. We show the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings, and our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design.

A gem of an asset in the Toon. If you love film, you will love this place; three screens and a gallery showing arty, foreign, childrens, blockbusters, the full gamit. Was a newsreel theatre; shows them daily during an history tour. Now has a cafe/bistro/bar with themed entertainment all day long.

this is one of my favourite places ever - it shows great films, has great cafes, is in the middle of town and runs great courses (i've been going to film courses there for more than ten years). i can't rate this highly enough. i love it..

This is the closest cinema to where I live that shows the kind of films that don't get general release. Over the years I've seen a number of independent films here that otherwise I would have missed on the big screen. Also they sometimes do special showings of classic films (this is why i was there recently) Support this kind... More

The Tyneside Cinema offers a consistently high level of service and value for j money whilst striving to support local artists and independent movies alongside the best of bigger box office movies where the quality is good. The seats in all the screens are very comfortable and the range of snacks and drinks you can take in is of good... More

Lovely decor, great cinema, comfy seating...and you can have a beer during the film! The screens are a perfect size, and the clientele always quiet and respectful of other filmgoers. 'Friends' of the cinema get great discounts.

The Tyneside cinema is great for showing a wide variety of films with various sizes of screens. Not so keen on the restaurant.

Tyneside cinema offers a fundamentally better experience in film viewing. The choice is more limited but there are overall interesting films and the simulcasts offer the opportunity to join the audience for really high quality drama and art. You can feel a part of the enterprise rather than simply a commodity. Becoming a "Friend" is really good value if you... More
