As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design. « less

comfortable, clean, great staff, bars, cafe and you can have a drink (wine, beer etc) whilst you watch films delivered with great sound and visual quality. As someone else said why go anywhere else?

This is an old-fashioned cinema with a large screen, newly refurbished, and a couple of smaller ones. They show all sorts of films from the big blockbusters to low budget independent and foreign language films which makes it quite an enriching experience and they should be praised for catering to the smaller markets. The cafe is great though can get... More

We'll I would have enjoyed my night, if not for the terribly mannered staff at Tyneside Cinema. Not a very nice experience at all! I would go back, but only if I didn't have to tolerate such incompetent and rude buffoons again!

You can book upstairs for private do's/parties where you can watch a film (there are certain ones to choose from) with nibbles etc. I was there for a special showing of John Otway's life story. He was there too so it was fantastic.Nice comfortable seats. Staff friendly too.
