As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design. « less

You can book upstairs for private do's/parties where you can watch a film (there are certain ones to choose from) with nibbles etc. I was there for a special showing of John Otway's life story. He was there too so it was fantastic.Nice comfortable seats. Staff friendly too.

I won't see a film anywhere else. The Tyneside has it all, including the fantastic Classic Circle with comfortable large armchair or sofa seating and wine chillers in the spaces between! The other screens have more usual seating, but they are all comfortable, and, above all, clean! Once you have experienced this fantastic independent cinema, you too won't want to... More

A wonderful building and a a great experience for cinema lovers. Plush, comfortable surroundings and seats. Take a glass of wine into the screening. Relax and enjoy the film in the knowledge that other members of the audience will behave properly! I wouldn't go anywhere else.

It makes 'going to the... More

This cinema is very go ahead with a good selection of classic films. it is in the Art Deco style and is worth a visit just to see the building. Its tea rooms serve a variety of snacks and meals at a reasonable price.

I love visiting the Tyneside as seats seem spacious and it always seems much cleaner than the larger cinemas.

what I like about this cinema is the fact that it is an Art deco movie house with several screens and very selective about what the films they screen.
