As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally, but nationally too and it has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design. « less

Tyneside cinema is a fantastic night out. You can enjoy a really good choice of films and make the whole night by enjoying food and drink there as well, especially with the new cafe that has opened. The cinemas are beautifully decorated, the building is old and wonderful and the staff are friendly and helpful. A personal recommendation would be... More

What a find! Was introduced to this place a while ago and have not been in a mainstream cinema since! Good choice of films, good beer selection and the new cafe does a cracking eggs benedict!

So many cinema trips have been made more affordable and interesting due to the cinema, showing a wide range of films in everything from high art indie films to some classic cults and even a few blockbusters mixed in there. The cinema has a great feel and every theatre room has a different style, from the art nouveau classic cinema... More

It has an excellent restaurant and bar, with the new Tyneside Bar Cafe offering a varied menu. The building is... More

I much prefer going to this Cinema than the large national companies.....it is quirky & unique, with different levels & a lovely Cafe area. There are usually plenty of independent films on with The Stone Roses Documentary being a particularly memorable viewing. Always prefer seeing Films here than anywhere else in the area.
