a true stone in Newcastle's live music scene. Plenty of great gigs for all tastes - some up and coming talent and established acts Plus - proper beers and great pre-gig food

I went to the Cluny last night with my daughter for the Ben Montague gig (which was fantastic). Having never been here before it was a little difficult to find, however once we got there I was impressed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room the gig was in was small but intimate and made the gig more... More

The cluny is good for gigs and does some decent food but in my option attracts a pretty pretentious crowd and the service is not really that friendly or quick. It's nothing to write a terrible review about but I would say there are better atmospheres and bars in the ouseburn area if you fancy a good drink, but for... More

This is a pub which serves traditional English cider. The atmosphere here is very quaint, comfortable and very relaxing. The attraction of this pub is that amateur musicians get together and play music, whether with their guitars, or their fiddles etc. The music is a mix of folk but also of contemporary (classic) music. Irish folk music is also played.... More

I recently visited the Cluny for a Ryan McGarvey gig, it was some time since I'd been to the Cluny but was pleased to see not much had changed. This is a very intimate venue in which to see a band, you need to arrive in good time in order to get a decent view of the stage (if that's... More

Our group of 12 friends had lunch at the Cluny before taking the Victoria Tunnel tour which starts nearby. Service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. Food and drink were good, particularly the home-made chilli which is available with rice or as a filling for baked potato. We had booked a table by e-mail and received a confirmation. However the booking... More

The title says it all, on a beautiful sunny day in late may this became a fantastic spot for a drink and a quick lunch. The burger was sublime, however the chips were a little disappointing; they weren't properly cooked. The vast amount of different beers was fantastic with something for everyone, and the bands they had advertised gives the... More

We went to a gig in Cluny 2 and loved the acoustics - much better than in the main venue - but there real downside was having to go up two flights of stairs to a poorly stocked bottle bar or having to fight your way through to the main bar. One of the best things about Cluny is the... More

The Cluny is a small music venue for up and coming performers and provides them with all the basics. It is run in a low key manner though and you should not be surprised at some of the off the wall things that happen on the night. In our case we were at a sell out concert which packed the... More
