Lovely little museum, restrained by its location and adjoining buildings etc and also funding hence the relatively short ride (when operating) and industrial unit building (but that in itself is a historic railway building as was used for the testing of the Newcastle Metro system), but has a very interesting collection of vehicles - the 'Killingworth Billy' steam locomotive of... We visited on the last day of the Easter holidays and found the experience to be a little depressing. To be fair, there were no trains running the day we went, so that removed a huge chunk of the museum's interest-factor. The little cafe (which had a nice selection of toys for little ones on one side) and an interesting... More

Great for children and adults. A couple of years since I was there but always enjoy anything about railways and trains present and past. Good when trains run in the summer.

Visited for the first time in a number of years, only thing is they need to expand the railway and offer a longer ride. Not sure if this is acheivable.

The museum is free to look round but does not take very long to see everything. Great for young ones and those interested in trains. You can also go on a trip. This is very reasonably priced and takes about half an hour.
