If you love fighting swearing drinking alcoholthis is the place for you. Please don't go if you're wanting a good Night out. It's rubbish and it is the most scummy venue in Newcastle. If you're going to watch a movie at the Empire Cinema during the day or having lunch go ahead

Maybe I am getting old, but I certainly felt it going to the Gate. I loved idea of this when it was been built an went a couple of times. But this has attracted all the worst night time drinkers from the quayside and the bigg market on a weekend and unless your in a group I is best to... More

Well what a fabulous place something for every one. My daughter told me about this place and while in Newcastle thought we would give it a visit. If you are in the area it is most certainly worth a visit. And they cook fresh for you yum yum

Effectively a food mall over two floors with a good selection of restaurant outlets, topped by the Empire Cinema. It is always busy and lively on Saturdays, and becomes more a place for young revellers at night (when it can get rowdy at times). If you want a place to eat and drink, indoors, with lots of people then this... More

Only go if you are drunk or about to get drunk on a weekend evening! It is full of people collapsing through alcohol and in certain areas very loud. Not for families at this time. During the day however it is fine for a meal or cinema visit!

The gate has a wide choice of restaurants including; Frankie and Benny's, Ninos and Ask (both Italian), Coast to Coast, TGI Fridays, Nandos and Za Za Bizzar (all you can eat buffet). There are various bars downstairs on the ground floor which attract many stag and Hens from different cities. On the top floor there is an Empire Cinema. There's... More

OK during the day for a movie but avoid at night. The whole area around The Gate is dreadful at weekend nights and good luck to anyone who plans a restful stay at the Premier Inn they are building right next to it in the old Coop building.

Lots of choice for food, but beware what time you go Saturday afternoons can be very very busy with children. Nino's and Nando's were a favourite

The Gate is a fantastic indoor entertainment centre and it really comes into its own when it’s raining outside (which, let’s face it, is quite often in Newcastle). Through the day it’s busy and lively with groups of all ages spending their hard-earned money from teenagers lunching with friends to OAPs treating themselves with their pensions. Come the night though,... More

When we visit Newcastle with the lads we always visit the gate. Always a good atmosphere and several good bars to choose from. Situated in the city centre (5 minutes walk from train station) is easy to find. Well worth a visit if your having a few drinks.
