Went yesterday and had no idea it was such a lovely house and grounds. Really lovely to look around. Thoroughly nice day.

Visited on heritage open weekend so the site was quite busy. As it was a weekend it was free flow to go round the house, I think going on a tour would have offered a better experience although there were a lot of volunteers and many were in costume the interaction was quite limited. The cowshed cafe was really good,... More

This country retreat with glorious views across the rolling Surrey Hills and acres of countryside was home to the famous Edwardian hostess Mrs Greville, who entertained royalty and celebrities of her time. The house has stunning interiors and contents including Mrs Greville’s fabulous collection of art and ceramics. The beautiful gardens have something to delight every season, including climbing roses,... More

The house is frozen in time and fabulous! I especially liked the working gramophone which gave a vibrancy to the atmosphere and was a talking point among the visitors. The grounds are extensive and a delight to walk to explore, as are the gardens. The converted stable block offers shops and excellent food. Arrive early & leave late to enjoy... More

My husband and I returned to Polesdon Lacey for the 2nd time this year, and visited the grounds again, and the house for the first time. The kitchen garden was stunning as in bloom, and the house was fascinating. We finished off the day with one of the beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside. It's great to get out of... More

It is not necessary to visit the house because the gardens are so big and offer so many different things to do and seen. However, the house is well worth visiting. The product of the ambitious Mrs Greville it is a reveals the life of a single person climbing the social ladder at the turn of the last century. As... More

Large area with plenty of spots to take in the scenery. They also have lounge chairs scattered around the area for people to relax. Lots of space for children to play and the wood play area was definitely something different and interesting. Enjoyed a really nice coffee and almond cake as well at the cafe.

Always a fantastic day out, with or without children. Lots to do for the enthusiastic and plenty of benches to relax and simply be for those less so.

If your anywhere near you must visit. We booked our selves on a garden tour as we often do. They are usually run by volunteers and are more about the history of the property and family than about gardening. If you haven't tried one give it a go, we find it makes going around the house much more interesting. The... More
