Polesden Lacy is a wonderful country house. A popular Edwardian hostess called Margaret Greville hosted country house parties, away from the confines of London gossip, where the gentry were able to let their hair down and run riot. Greville refurbished Polesden Lacey to the highest European standards and the result is phenomenal. This is a house that I can see... More

A fantastic National Trust property near Dorking. Parking is £4 for the day unless your a National Trust member, then it's free. Plenty of places to eat, either bring a picnic and use the deck chairs or have something in their own cafe. The house itself is vast with such a great collection of artefacts. So much to see and... Nice view from the front balcony, cute kitchen garden, some old paintings that need to be seen with flashlight, because it's always too dark in the house. Fresh flower arrangements are a big plus for the house. Piano playing by the volunteers brings the golden room to life. Upstairs bedrooms are disappointing. Good cafe.

There are some buildings that just yearn to be film sets - Polesden is a National Trust property with house and gardens which crops up in crime drama from time to time. Inside, there is an interesting collection - amassed by a brewery-heiress socialite and the gardens have a number of areas which will appeal to different demographics. It is... More

My husband & I are National Trust members and had been visiting this area to see several places. What a beautiful house with so much history behind it. I would advise you to get there in time to join in one of the timed visit's into the house as you learn so much about its owner and the things that... More

This is a lovely family home with an interesting history. It has a relaxed air and understated collections of wonderful treasures, an absolute delight and deserving of repeat visits. The beautiful grounds have views to die for.

Spent a wonderful sunny Sunday afternoon walking the grounds and nosing around the house at Polesden Lacey. What a wonderful place. The house is beautiful - a shame that there isn't more of it open for visitors to walk around, but I suppose volunteers are limited - it would have been fascinating to see where the King used to sleep... Fantastic place and one that I go back to time and time again from when my child was a glint in my eye through his baby years and being a toddler. Now a strapping boy. Fantastic location, house is fascinating and gardens wonderful. I love the cafe and the shop too. Really recommend a visit if you have the chance.
