Went with friends on a hot July day. Enjoyed the strolls around the various gardens although the flowers were just past their best. Lots of lovely walks to take in. Did not visit the house as we wished to take advantage of the weather, we can do the house another time. Restaurant was busy but clean and food was adequate.... More

There were many interesting things to see. Some great paintings and beautiful gardens with great sculptures. I took some wonderful pictures. Hope to share one or two. If you join the National Trust it is included in the price so free.

12 of us had a croquet lesson in July 2015. The cost was £12 each, this included expert tuition from 3 croquet coaches and use of mallets/balls. The coaches were all excellent. We split into 3 groups of 4. My coach, John, gave us instruction in the basics, allowed us to practice and then arranged a fun tournement for our... More

Definitely do miss this great house of Britain. I had a wonderful day exploring the stunning grounds in garden. The house has a very interesting story. It's age is also more modern than most "great houses in "; which adds to it being an interesting addition to any trip. There is also a very nice gift shop and restaurant. It... More

Most National trust houses are grand and formal. I find them interesting but wouldn't want to live there. This one is different. It is firmly 20thC and has facilities like ensuites and draftproofing. It is built round two courtyards, one covered and one open so although it is indeed a much grander house than you or I live in, it... More

This is one of the best presented houses of the National Trust. A real Gem. Room after room unfolds, each one leaving you in awe. A real home, and feeling it. Everything of the best quality, from a period of history still so recent that it feels almost the present. Absolutely riveting. There are so many rooms to see, yet... More

A lovely day spent. A perfect place to picnic, taking in the Surrey hills. A wonderful old house, with both grand and humble rooms. It's very family friends, will keep the kids busy and adults relaxed. Definitely check out the children's wooded playground, as well as the stunning rose garden.
