I visited the National Stud during a school trip and was fairly satisfied! We drove around in a minibus and got explained all the different stables and units. The guide was friendly and never ran out of funny anecdotes. The stud itself is in a very good state and you can see that they are doing the best possible for... More

Set in lovely grounds, easy to get to by road. Not that far from Newmarket town centre. Good parking facilities. On arrival you meet in visitor centre. Advise arrive approx half hour before tour start time to have refreshments etc The tour takes you round the site, by bus, calling in at various stables, giving you the opportunity look and... More

Wonderful day. Arrived for coffee then had the 11.15 tour. Emily our guide was brilliant. She enlightened us about the history of the stud & breeding procedures at a level for all to understand. We were very lucky to meet Frankel's first daughter. She is gorgeous with a white blaze down her nose. We were not allowed to touch her... More

What a fantastic visit! We booked in advance for the tour online and collected our tickets on the day. Good value - £8.00 per concession entrance. Our guide - Peter - was excellent - very knowledgeable and amusing - full of anecdotes. We visited the Stallions (3 in all) and saw numerous mares with their foals. The icing on the... More

A great morning spent meeting foals and looking at the stallions - perfect for both the racing enthusiast and those new to the sport. Our guide, Peter, was fantastic - his knowlege and presentation skills bringing the sport of kings to life in an easily understandable and informative way.Excellent food available at the coffee shop - a wonderful day out... This was our fourth visit to the National Stud . Our tour guide this time was " Peter " who gave us an amusing & knowledgeable insight into the running of the stud & the life of a race horse trainer . Again we were fortunate enough to see and feed polo mints to the lovable 2004 Grand National winner... More

Although not the least bit into horses ourselves, we appreciate this beautiful animal and know they are very popular in England. Plus, we wanted to learn more, and a tour at The National Stud was quite highly recommended. We would concur and encourage anyone in the area to take the time to go here. You enter in a large gate... The National stud is at the bottom of the July Racecourse, set in immaculate grounds. As the gates to the stud swing open, you enter a different world, where serious money is invested in the commercial breeding of future racing winners (hopefully!) Parking is easy, and is right next to the Coffee Shop, which is where you collect your tickets.... More
