I am the horse indifferent partner of a horse racing enthusiast but agreed to take a morning out to visit the National Stud. Surprisingly I had a really brilliant time! Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and answered all our questions, however basic or daft. The horses were beautiful, including the foals. Plus it's not every day you meet... More

A lovely tour of an hour and a half or so in the heart of the countryside, See and enjoy the mares and young foals who are very keen to introduce themselves to you as they are both friendly and inquisitive. Meet retired stallion and Grand national winner Amberley House and feed him peppermints from the hand....a lovely experience. You... More

My partner and I are both horse racing fans and have been meaning to take this tour for quite a while and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed a cup of tea and cakes in the cafe while we were waiting for the tour to begin at 1400hrs.On the hour we were called to the bus by our guide a lady... More

I booked us on the half day Thoroughbred tour with lunch for a birthday present and we had a great day, Nice early start in a small group we set off in a people carrier (worth checking this as they have a big bus) to the gallops to watch some of the finest being put through their paces, we could... A cracking half day tour that incorporated a trip to Warren Hill (gallops) and to a trainers yard prior to he tour itself round the stud. Malcolm, our guide, was very informative and funny willingly engaging and answering any questions. The stud itself is excellent - feeding Amberleigh House polos a real treat but also quite emotive seeing the headstone... More

Took some friends from Northumberland and enjoyed a very nice 90 minute tour which we thoroughly enjoyed. There are two tours each day and we took the 11.15 option. Driving into Newmarket, we were impressed by the very high standard of clean and tidy grass verges everywhere. We drove through automatic gates into the The National Stud enjoying splendid surroundings... More

It was a last minute decision to take the tour and so pleased we did. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and you take a bus trip around the stud farm to get up close to the mares and foals (depending on the season), see the stallions (you can’t touch them) and where all the action takes place. Our guide,... More

I love the National Stud, this was a return visit. The guide was excellent and the young overworked staff in the café charming and cheerful.. The cafe is my criticism : There were two large coach parties queuing in the café. It seemed only one was actually on a tour of the stud. There were notices on several tables "reserved."... More

We loved this tour as breeders & racehorse owners in Australia. Although much of the tour information included basic knowledge we already knew, it was amazing to see the program's/set up of an international stud. Our tour guide Malcolm was great & explained everything extremely well on the 1.5hr tour around the 500 acre National Stud. Well worth a visit... More
