lovely tour

Had a fantastic tour, we were out of the main season but there was still plenty to hear about and see. Beautiful setting and lovely horses.

We did a tour of the National Stud with a wonderful and very entertaining guide. (the lady with the poorly knee). She was very knowledgeable and great fun. We started the tour with a cream tea in the cafe which was great and headed off with only a few others on the mini bus for a tour that took a... More

Had a great visit to the national stud. The guide was very good and seemed to know everything about every horse we came across. Really nice to see the foals in the fields and to see where the covering happens. The values of the horses is staggering. After the tour we had a nice cream tea in the coffee shop.

We did not see many mares, foals or stallions. This is probably due to the lateness in the season. I would say try and visit earlier, say April.

Seeing the young with their mothers, the stallions out in the paddocks also the stables with more inmates. The maternity wing and the knowledge of our guide Malcolm made this a wouderful tour.

I liked the process from beginning to end. From covering the mare by a famous stallion to seeing the off spring playing in the paddock.Interesting to hear the history of breeding race horses. I did not dislike anything.

A small group set off from reception/cafe and onto the mini-bus that was expertly guided by Angie who conducted the tour with enthusiastic commentary (about 1 1/4 hours). Unfortunately, it was a cold, wet and rainy day so we were a little hindered with getting off the vehicle and getting close ups of the horses and foals. However, when the... More

Having visited the horse racing museum in the morning we were looking forward to visiting the stud. We started with lunch in the cafe and even though they were expecting a large party lunch was freshly made and delicious. Larry was our guide and having met him at the museum earlier we chatted about our visit and joked about our... More

Beautifully tended grounds & magnificent horses. Great idea to do a tour prior to going Racing, which we did.
