This simple little cinema-2 screens only, provides a Club atmosphere, in fact there are member discounts, to enjoy unadulterated international films. No popcorn smells, although interesting snacks & drinks are available on site. This cinema provides too the cultural live experiences from the Gran Met Opera, New York, to i night shows of occasional London Theatre & Ballet. It is... More

If you want to enjoy cinema away from the impersonal multiplexes then the Abbeygate is the place for you. The two screening rooms are every comfortable with great leg room. They have sofas available as well which are great. A good selection of refreshments is also available. The picture and sound quality are also fab.

After years of being herded in to the faceless, coparate paradise that is the multi-screen complex, I'd enough! Decided to re-visit the dirty, pokey old cinema I remember using as a kid, for a bit of nostalgia. Oh my. What a shock. It's not old and pokey its transformed in to a gorgours, locally run beacon of enjoyment. The seats... More

The Abbeygate Cinema was recommended to us and what a gem of a place. Everything you want; comfy settees, good popcorn, cold beer, un-restricted view, good surround sound, perfect temperature A/C and a warm, friendly welcome from the staff. The website is easy to use and book tickets, and their collection effortless. I will not go to another cinema by... More

If you want a comfy, intimate cinema with friendly, helpful staff & a great adjoining restaurant with lovely home cooked food then this is the one for you. "Probably the best cinema in the world".😀

This cinema is a real find! There are two screens, both very intimate with some sofa seats, cushions and plenty of room. Somehow, the films it shows are often the ones we want to see! The highlight of the menu in the restaurant is the 'build your own burger', there are so many options! By far my favourite bit is... More

Decided to try the "old cinema". In bury St Edmunds. We used to take the kids her when small, but then a bigger cinema opened near bye. Big comfy sofas, armchairs and cushions. The film was excellent, but what excited us the most was the cafe downstairs. What a hidden gem. A Canadian chef has made the menu his own,... More

Afternoon brunch and "the film" we had excellent tea, proper pot and cup n saucer, chicken club and BLT freshly made in the really nice cafe bar in the foyer although my idea of a club sandwich is three slices , toasted etc the chicken club was a toasted but more like a sub aka "subway" but lovely nice salad... I love it here, it's a small, friendly and excellently run cinema with really good seating. Even the snacks are above the norm.
