Interesting place to have a stroll round of an evening if the weather is good. Right next to the pub too!

What a lovely experience to have a superb light lunch/afternoon tea sitting on the balcony overlooking the river with friends. The food could not be faulted, fresh tasty sandwiches, quiche and scotch egg. The home-made scones and cakes were delicious. I have an allergy to chocolate but that was not a problem to the staff - another cake was brought... More

Went to Tees Barrage this weekend for their white water course. It was excellent. I am a reasonable standard kayaker, getting back into the sport after a few years out. The course is quite demanding, but you always feel safe and there is plenty of hello on hand. The short course with its large drop at the end is difficult,... More

The Whitewater club site at Tees Barrage is one of the best we have visited.Great facilities on site and only a 25 min walk by the river into Stockton and for the more energetic around 50min walk into Middlesboro'.Asda is only 5mins walk from the site and a Premier inn pub just outside the gate.Great location and very friendly and... The formation of the barrage has created an area for gentle riverside walks both upstream to Stockton or downstream towards Middlesbrough. You also have a great chance of seeing the seals catching fish and generally playing around just downstream of the barrage itself. The cafe within the canoeing/outdoor centre serves snacks and hot and cold drinks. There is plenty of... More

This was a two hour evening white water rafting experience and they were so well organised. Everything was ready and the time was very well spent. The staff were helpful and it was a really exciting evening and really good value for money by using a discount voucher. The cafe was comfortable and good value with a lovely view of... More

We have just returned from having afternoon tea at the Riverview Cafe on the Tees Barrage. After a very warm welcome from the staff who had a table with a river view ready for us, we were presented with a good variety of sandwiches and cakes which were all obviously home made and delicious. In fact scrumptious !! There are... More
