Almost unreal.

It was just great to be able to appreciate the quiet on the day we visited and the unusual and unspoilt piece of history

Pretty gardens, cobblestone streets, intimate chapel at the head of the street, hidden gates, what more could one ask for!

A most interesting and stunning sight of these lovely cottages. I have now to read up on them as I did not before we went there. We did learn that they were for the Cathedral choir and one (No.14) is rented out. Much more to find out..............

Dating from the 1300's, this close has been continuously inhabited ever since. Just down the road from the museum & tourist information and 2 mins from the cathedral it's a must to visit. Free to stroll down, it's like walking back in time and each house tells its own story. Remember to take your camera.

Vicar's Close is an extremely old and picturesque street just across the road (I think on the north side) from the cathedral. This is a good photo op and a very pretty area. If you're in the vicinity of the cathedral this is worth a 10 minute detour. All of Wells is picturesque and we spent several hours just wondering... More

Unspoilt cobble stoned street, probably used as a set for many films. Close to the cathedral and well worth a look.

A real piece of history right in the heart of Wells. A must see together with the cathedral and Bishops Palace.

A must for any visitor to Wells. The oldest continuously inhabited street in Europe and although medieval in origin some buildings have been converted to Georgian but not all. I enjoyed a peaceful walk along the close taking in the beauty & the architecture.
