Great day out in the castle, lovingly cared for by the national trust. The gardens are beautiful with plenty of areas to rest up and smell the roses. For those who bring their dogs on days out, there is a dog friendly picnic area.

The gardens are very extensive and bursting with colour. The castle itself is fabulous too. There is history but also nature too. Check out the bat display and live video feed to see the nocturnal residents at rest. Lots for children to do as well as adults.

Absolutely stunning grounds, so much care has gone into the design and upkeep of the grounds. This is not your usual National Trust place with ordered gardens.... the gardens are almost worth a visit on their own and the children's play area (a natural one) is so lovely and peaceful. None of the sometimes "stuffy" national trust attitude. Definitely worth... More

Popped down for a short visit and found it utterly charming. We also walked into the village and found that very interesting as well. Don't forget to buy a raffle ticket to help restore the waterwheel.

We were looking forward to our visit and we were not disappointed. The walk is steep from the car park. I did notice transport available for the less able. We were pleasantly greeted entering the castle and informed of the route. We were provided with a free handbook (to return at the end of the visit) which gave details of... More

The castle grounds are well worth walking round but bear in mind it was a defensive castle and it's built on a hill! If you make it to the top the views are good. Some paths are quite steep but the National Trust map shows routes round avoiding steps. If you have a wheelchair or a buggy you have been... More

Thought the entrance fee was a little high. Until we got in there! So much to see, lovely gardens, real coffee in the cafe. Very informative staff inside the castle, without being long winded.

The car park ( Pay & Display for non NT members ) is very close to the foot of the castle's hill but there is a very steep climb to reach the castle itself. Best to take the courtesy bus unless you are very fit. Once in the castle, you are treated to a fascinating tour and the volunteers we... More

We have been to Dunster many times but had never before visited the castle. Although we had our black lab with us and were not able to enter the main castle we were able to enter the other exhibits with him in tow. However even if this had not been possible the gardens alone would have made the visit well... More
