A really nice feel about this whole venue. The driveway (we must go when the rhododendrons are in flower, I'm sure it would would be like entering Manderley) leads to the large well maintained grassed car park situated next to woodland and just across the drive way from the entrance kiosk with a large cafe attached. The walk down to... More

Stunning gardens, beautiful house, fantastic playground, wonderful walks, good cafe, childrens farm, great indoor play area. All in all a great all round family day out. We spent 5 hours and would have stayed longer were it not for a member of the family having to set off on a long journey. Fantastic time of year (Oct) as the trees... More

Our Historic Houses Association membership afforded us free entry to Bowood House and Gardens. Since it had been more the 25 years since our first visit to Bowood we were excited to return and what a delight it was. The first floor of the house,a second floor gallery tracing the family's connection to India, the orangery and a sculpture gallery... More

Bowood house and garden are definitely a place to visit. The gardens, the lake, the house and the play ground are all excellently maintained. You will have a relaxing day in its beautiful surroundings. Be prepared to stay there for a whole day and enjoy all the fantastic views since the tickets are pricy and you can't use the National... Came here in May with our family including our two year old grandson. Love the fact they have added a small animal farm, complete with baby animals. Beautiful grounds and lakes

Hi. Yes Bowood is a lovely spot for a picnic. The house inside is very nice but I have to say that from second-hand knowledge because I only live about 4 miles away but have never actually been in it! But the grounds are superb and the picnic area outside is glorious. So highly recommended!

A full day full of adventure. Picnic perfect place. I would use the full day, as a family ticket can be a little pricey if you only use it for a few hours, but completely worth it for a full day. Great play area and even the adults can go around with younger children. Watch out for wobbly legs :)

Lovely place to visit at this time of year to see the mass of blubells through the woods. Recommended.
