A great discovery. A realwell laid out and informative museum. Great exhibits on mining in Somerset. Room sets really well done. Great temporary exhibition on history of winter carnival. Good little shop and small tea room. Very friendly staff. Well worth a visit. Car parking available nearby.

This museum details the lives of the workers in the local coal industry. It is very strong on personal accounts and social history.

We visited as we had been told it was worth seeing. A senior pays £3.50 and we were then told we can return as often as we like for a year!!! We were greeted by a gentleman who was not at all pushy but offered to give us a summary of what we would see. He made the point that... More

Mainly visited the museum for a Quoiting exhibition was delighted to see there was more ,mainly set around the coal mining in the area . Well stocked and volunteers were friendly. Would probably not entered as a one off as it was rather small and easily got round in an hour or so.

A small but perfectly formed local museum. Well worth a look if your in the area - but take care approaching the strange roundabout system!.

We went along to visit the Quilting & Patchwork exhibition. This was fantastic. Well laid out and lots of information provided. We also looked around the small museum which was really interesting. I hadn't realised there was coal mining in the area. The small replica shop was very interesting.

For a rather small town museum this was a gem. The grand children really loved it. For youngsters and young adults alike it paints a picture of the area that has long gone and is barely recognisable unless you go searching for it in the batches, canal remnants etc. Mining fossils canals and railways were all so much about this... Inspirational exhibts which are sad and joyous in equal measure, it certainly made us sit up and think about the appauling conditions in which our ancesters worked. Nice attentive guides, who were there if you needed help but did not bother you if you were engrossed, this is a fine line and they should be applauded as it was only... More
