The best way to learn a lot about this very walkable city in a short period of time. And the price is right- free! The guides all volunteer their time because they have so much regard for their city. Just wonderful!

The best way to explore Bath. I did a tour on Saturday, and there were 5 guides, so we were able to split in smaller groups. Our guide showed us places and told us stories about Bath, so we weren't bored for a second!!! I travelled quiet a bit around the world and did free walking tours in a lot... More

The tour was recommended to us by a friend and we were so glad we did it. We only had one day in Bath and the tour was perfect for getting a snapshot of the city. The tour went for about 2 hrs but we weren't bored for one second. The guide pointed out all sorts of interesting things we... More

Brilliant free offering from Bath tour guide. Start outside the Bath House and be guided around the sights and history of Bath. A gentle and informative introduction.

Our very friendly guide showed us a lot of places I hadn't noticed during my stay in Bath (did the tour on the last day of a three-day trip), so that was really cool! Also, I had told her that I had to be at the train station at a certain time, so she adapted the route a bit, in... More

Recommended by our hotel owner, and although we had spent a week in the city before, the guide told us things we would never have known without reading an extensive history. Well paced tour, clear narrative, informative and amusing. Our tour was one of 4 that departed on a Saturday morning, our groups were quite large (30+) but the guide... More

This is a great way to gain an overview - both geographically and historically - of Bath. Our guide was wonderfully knowledgeable and tied in his tour to history, literature (Jane Austen!), great food, and everything in between!

Found this on trip advisor and had a wonderful, informative tour with Phil. It was so much nicer than the usual commercialized bus tours. Walking was at a leisure pace so could be done by most. I doubt kids would appreciate it though. About 2 hours long starting at a clearly marked sign at front entrance to the pump room.... More

The Mayor's guide tour is amazing and especially considering that it is free. I guess the fact that they are voluntary guides, you can tell that they love what they do and really want to show us their beautiful city. Our tour last more than 2 hours as our guide kept showing us more things and it really shows that... More

Based on tripadvisor I tried this out with a group of friends and 3 eleven year olds. Finding this was easy and was hopeful on the first few stops, but our group was about 30-40 people and it was difficult to stand close enough to hear. Also, kids lost interest quickly, and we left the group at the Royal Crescent.

Mike M, Chairman at Mayor's Honorary Guides, responded to this review

Thank you for reviewing the tour but sorry to hear it did not work out as we would hope. The number on your tour was larger than we would like. We monitor the group numbers and try to field enough guides for the number of visitors we expect. However, we don't turn anyone away and don't always get it exactly... More
