It demonstrates how classical design influenced the buildings and illustrates the construction of a house from the cellars to the rafters. Based in the Countess of Huntingdon’s Chapel, the building is also home to the Bath Model, a fully detailed architectural model of the historic city centre, giving a unique insight into the layout of the Georgian City. « less

This little museum, situated in an unusual building itself (a chapel hidden behind a mansion), is exactly what you need to understand the Bath phenomenon. Everything is explained simply but with enough details available if you want to know a bit more. If you are in a hurry, just watching the10 min. video will tell you most of what you... More

We agree with other reviewers who advise seeing this early in your stay - it helps you understand the city better as you are walking about. We're not architects but we are interested in history and old buildings, so we found the displays helpful. We got a discount as our B&B is a member of the Bath Independent Guest Houses... More

Best appreciated by anyone who is curious enough to want to know what lies behind the glorious frontages. there are models of buildings showing how they were constructed and how they were used, collections of orignal tools and documents- hours of interest, unless you are bored by technology. One instant fact- did you know that the streets are built up... More

This museum presents a comprehensive look at the buildings in Bath and how they were constructed - everything from the plan to the final trim. There is a video as well as interesting displays of all aspects of Bath architecture and decor, and some very good models. Make it one of the first things you do in Bath so you... More

Had greatly looked forward to re-visiting the now extended exhibition; unfortunately, closed for the winter season. Hope v. much it may be opened for the whole year in 2013-4.

Small museum about the history of the architecture and planning of Bath. I loved it and was very impressed with the enthusiasm and knowledge of the staff. Quiet and off the beaten track but not far from the central area. Very affordable at £4 although we bought our ticket with the No 1 Royal Crescent one which saved us £2.... More

Brilliant little museum, the best in Bath. So interesting, great exhibits, really recommended and yet so few people seem to go. Very central too.

This is a very interesting history of the construction of this unique city. It gives a good background before going out to see the beautiful architecture.

The small scale model of Bath is amasing! Very interesting museum that is high quality and cheap at £4 entry. Easily seen in an hour or so, so perfect gap filler, shame it isn't bigger really.

If you are interested in history and the growth of Bath during the Georgian period this is a must. Unfortunately not on the main tourist thourghfare so tends to get missed but still very close to the centre of the city. Before planning a visit make sure the museum is open as they are not always open.
