A little gem hidden away in a beautiful village, this is well worth a visit. For those interested there is a plaque describing the history, but even if you're not interested in that, it's a lovely place for a stroll or a picnic. It's free, and there are no restrictions so there are often kids scrambling about inside. Note -... More

Cute castle residence with some nice architectural design of spires or corbels poking out near the roof. According to the info kiosk on site, it was built by a rich night as a castle residence for himself. It was preserved through the years but was overtaken and put to ruin during the civil war. I've seen many ruined castles and... More

Fantastic! If you want to be really surprised to find peace and beauty buried in Somerset then you must visit this wonderful village and castle. There is not much information available about the castle but the whole experience is well worth the trouble.

What a find. My husband and I went to lunch with our daughter and family at The George at Nunney. That is worth a visit in itself, see separate review. On walking around this pretty village after lunch we discovered this castle ruin. Yes it only has walls now and does not take long to visit but it is a... More

Nunney Castle — Somerset, England Nunney has a long history and has become a tourist attraction due to the ruins of Nunney Castle, and the historic Church of All Saints. The village is a quaint and lovely place to see with ducks wandering the streets near the river. The ruins of the castle with its wide moat add a unique... More

Why is there a ruined French castle complete with moat in a small Somerset village. I don,t know but it well worth visiting. And it is right in the middle of the village, surrounded by houses. What is more entry is free. And while there also take a look at the church.

Wow! A French moated castle in Somerset. Be prepared to have your breath taken away by this gem. There isn't a lot of detailed information about the building itself - you have to use your imagination! We were so pleased we took a detour off our route. A bonus is that because it is unmanned (free access during daylight hours)... More

We walked to Nunney and had the pleasure of the surprise of first catching sight of the castle as we turned a corner in the main street. I seemed almost unreal, looming over the village like that, and is very impressive. Kids will love it, because it has all the qualities of a castle - keep, a moat with fish... More

We stopped here on a lovely sunny day and very glad we did. The castle is just ruins but it's still immense to look at . It's very quiet relaxing and peaceful and doesn't take long to look around but worth it all the same. We looked around the church too which was also pretty amazing. There were ducks and... More
