Lovely walk at the side of the canal. Cycling is allowed on the path and the majority of cyclists ride past at high speed without any thought for the safety of young children or dogs getting out of their way quick enough.

We sail this canal regularly and love every inch of it, the towpaths are good for walkers but I would echo another contributor and say watch out for bike riders who are usually friendly and ring their bells if you haven't noticed them. The wildlife is varied and excellent for birdwatchers in particular. Sailing through Reading Oracle Centre is fun... More

This review is for the Kennet and Avon canal trust tea room and visitor centre. We were in Reading for a wedding and as the canal was a short distance from our hotel decided to stop for breakfast before heading home. It was a lovely morning so we walked along the canal and then went to the tea room for... More

Dress appropriately for the weather and you can enjoy a walk in the countryside on level ground all year round. There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy just be wary of the cyclists who can approach a little quietly sometimes.

A great place to walk. You can go forever in both directions. Classic English countryside. The walk is peaceful, flat and easy. Well marked. Fun on foot or bike.

Reading has many charms and, as I recently spent a day there for the first time in nearly 20 years, I was impressed at how pleasant the stretch of the Kennet River that runs through here has become. The Oracle Mall now spans a stretch of it in downtown Reading that was derelict when I worked here in the early... More

There is a small peace of the path under construction between Aldermaston and Frouds Lane, so if you manage to find the entrance near the pedestrian bridge in Aldermaston Wharf, you might not be able to get out on Frouds Lane due to the high metal fences.

We stroll along the canal & sometime watching the pegeons flock together is really a view to have. With occasional visitors such as ducks, goose & seagulls relieve all your stress.

There are some lovely walks along the canal, past some gorgeous homes, fields and locks. Last year the Corn Exchange ran a festival of fire which ran for 1km along the canal, I've also taken a Kennet & Avon Canal boat ride up the canal which was lovely, with a great commentary. This weekend I'm joining the Christmas boat ride... More
