We spend a lot of time up and down the canal, either on a boat, on a bike or on 2 and 4 legs respectively... Dog in tow! Whilst the railway line touches it along the way, it remains peaceful and scenic and not overcrowded. There are good places to eat and The Rowbarge at Woolhampton is definitely one to... More

Tranquil boat trip today on the Rose narrow boat with my good friend. (Birthday treat). We left on time and had a most enjoyable relaxing trip. With special thanks to Rob and crew.. Rob who was so informative and clearly spoken. He was a pleasure to listen to and not overbearing. It was great learning more about canal life and... More

This is a canal that you feel does not boast or stand out among the many larger well-know canals but has that feeling of quiet contentment that allows it's visitors to enjoy the gem if you know it!

Nice for a walk, for example from Reading to Sonning and back, but in town a single woman needs to think about her safety. Time it right and you can have a drink at the Bull in Sonning.

A group of us have just been on a horse drawn barge on the Kennet and Avon canal, what a trip, absolutely fantastic. We did have a small shower of rain, but didn't matter as the barge was covered in. When the sun came out, all the windows along the sides were pushed down, perfect ,

An interesting place to watch the barges pass and see the locks operating and the people who live on them.

Away from the roads and very peaceful, passing all the small houses on the opposite bank of the canal.

this was a great way to experience the horse drawn canal boat of old. Travelling through 2 locks and being able to walk sections gives plenty of photo ops. # hrs at least maybe a little long for children but a lovely restful outing.

We hired Ufton from Aldermaston Wharf and went westward to Newbury and back. Ufton is one of the best boats i've been on and the canal was suitably peaceful and restful. If you've never tried canal boating do so - its great fun and a good way to unwind.

This is a great canal for cycling or walking. We cycled from Reading to Newbury and there are plenty of nice cafe's or pups along the way.
