Oxford Castle Unlocked explores the 1000-years of Oxford's History. Led by one of our costumed character guides, the rich history of the castle with a prison at its heart will be revealed to you. Climb St. George's Tower and take in the stunning views before descending into the atmospheric crypt, along the 18th century prison wing and into archaic man-made mound.

A personnel tour

The tour of the castle led by one of the historical characters was very interesting and told with passion. Great views from the top of the tower.

well worth a visit. We had a very knowledgable guide who was really funny and made it good for the kids. A bit blustery on the top, though. Take a hat.

One of the advantages of taking a guided tour over a self guided tour is that you can ask the guide questions and they know the answer! I did this tour yesterday. If you are frightened of heights, don't be, the stair case has rails going up and down and I happen to have large feet, a hip replacement and... More

So many important moments of British history happened here, as well as the criminal history, worth seeing, one of the things to see in Oxford!

I happened to stay at Hotel Malmaison and that gave me an opportunity to know and understand the place through the dances and cultural show at the castle on 18th April through the day. would like to thank my luck to be in the right time.

Another place to visit, if you have enough time in Oxford. The mound offers a great view of the castle and parts of the city.

guided tours are brilliant, but think if you can cope with the staircase in the tower. however, it's worthy going

Great tour and staff are brilliant. Very interactive and we were able to ask guide (who actually was portraying King Stephen) anything.

Just visited today and our guide was very informative and funny. Would recommend a visit. You need to able to walk up the tower or you will have to sit and watch the video. Views are great from the tower.
