We love folk tales, fairytales, classics and, of course, Shakespeare. You don’t need a theatre building to make great theatre. The magic happens all over Oxford. We seek out places that have never been used for theatre before, and bring them to life. Our shows are beautiful, ugly, fast, furious, wacky, twisted, surprising, spooky, magical, daring, haunting, challenging, inspiring, hilarious, sexy, sassy, cheeky… but never predictable.16 years, 45 shows, 350,000 audience members aged 5-95…we are Oxford’s own Creation Theatre Company. « less

We took friends to see this innovative and atmospheric production of Macbeth. Creation does not disappoint with excellent acting and extraordinary use of a marvellous setting. LMH has wonderful gardens and the seating around the circular borders looking up at the stage and buildings works very well. The WW1 interpretation is interesting and presented the play in a new light... More

We had a weekend in Oxford and wanted to see something other than museums and Macbeth at Lady Margaret Hall ticked the box. With four friends we had a front row table and arrived in time to enjoy one of the LMH picnics which was excellent before the show started. The setting led to a little improvisation but the main... Went to a Saturday afternoon performance; a lovely setting for any play - almost too pretty for a dark story like Macbeth. The pleasant afternoon sunshine didn't contribute to the atmosphere, but the performances (particularly Scott Ainslie as Macbeth) and the storytelling were both excellent and overall I hugely enjoyed it. As a couple of other posters have said, the... More

Probably a very good production but we didn't understand much of it. We were expecting witches and cauldrens but had to keep referring to the synopsis in the programme to find out what was going on! The atmosphere and the setting were excellent though. We booked the picnic and wished we'd turned up earlier to eat it - there were... More

Saw this last week in their new venue, Lady Margaret Hall. First, the setting is stunning, probably their best yet. Second, the play, strangely set in a World War One sanatorium - it didn't work for me. It wasn't helped by a glitch in the sound system which meant that every now and then you couldn't hear what was being... More

My first visit to Creation Theatre was to see their production of Macbeth, and if that was typical of what I can expect from Creation I won't ever be going again. If I had known what nonsense we were going to be presented with I would never have bought the tickets. I quit during the interval feeling angry at having... More

What a lovely setting and a fantastic presentation of Macbeth set in WW1. Albeit a damp start it did not affect the evening or the performance. Best birthday evening :).

Macbeth by Creation company was one of the best interpretations of the play I have seen. Don't know whether it was the acting, or the amazing use of the garden's space/LMH buildings and the music range that created a special atmosphere, or whether these were the crows that accidentally joined the cast of the outdoor performance, but it will definitely... We have seen all Creation Theatre's productions in recent years. As ever, the setting is magnificent, the staging perfect and the quality of acting top drawer. The play captures the sinister and dark mood of the play and watching it sat around circular tables with blood-stained table cloths on the lawn was inspired. But... the setting of the play in... We were so pleased the timing of this show coincided with our travel dates! Have seen Macbeth several times but never with a WWI theme, never in England, never in such a gorgeous outdoor setting, never with a "hamper" of yummy food! Perfect quintessential evening for our family--thanks to everyone responsible both on and off stage!
