Think about those books, the ones that you'll always go back to, those moments in life where you think 'that's a bit like that chapter' or 'you're just like that character', those are the stories we love.

We don't just want to leave those books on the shelf though, we take them down, hand them around, share them out and bring them to life.

All over Oxford we find unusual spaces - these stories aren't set in theatres so we don't put them there. Castles, antique mirror tents, college gardens, bookshops and factories... we'll go wherever the stories take us, and so far we've taken over 500,000 people with us.

From the thousands of children who've told classic stories in new ways through our education programme, to our professional actors and directors, you're always most likely to find us lost in a good book.

18 years, 54 shows, half a million audience members aged 5-95...we are Oxford's own Creation Theatre Company.

We were glad to discover this option for our one full night in Oxford. The production of Treasure Island was exuberantly performed and funny at times, but the plot was very difficult to follow for those unfamiliar with the story. The kids seemed engaged, but I would not recommend it as highly for adults without children.

We were spell-bound from the start to the finish of this fantastic performance. There was never a dull moment. The characterisation, music, dancing and interaction with the audience were brilliant. Creation Theatre always manage to add that extra special magic to their performances which never fails to capture the imagination. Brilliant artistry - long may it continue.

Oh, thank Goodness for the Creation Theatre this year. The pantos this year were so dire, we really hoped for a fun afternoon at the Wall - and a fun afternoon it certainly was. The characters were beautifully developed, the story told with charm and humour, the songs sang with fun and good voices. Thanks, Creation Theatre (although we would... More

THe cast acted their socks off as if it was a final performance but sadly our performance was not very well attended. We enjoyed it from the first minute to the last & were transported to Wonderland with ease. What a talented cast, so versatile & at ease with all their different parts. A truly up to date, original and... More

Treasure Island was wonderful entertainment for our family group, aged 6 to 70+. A mixture of scary pirates, sword fights, rowing boats, and surreal songs about Parmesan cheese kept us all amused and entranced. A fabulous, talented cast delivered in spades. Thank you, Keep up the good work!

What a clever mesmerising performance. Adults and children engaged in this adaptation of Alice. Seasonally written to enthrall and entertain all the audience no matter what age. Funny and deep performances by the excellently chosen cast, each with their own unique personality. genius!

This was yet another excellent Christmas play by the Creation Theatre Company. My mother and I really enjoyed it. Suitable for all ages!

Treasure Island has great sets, excellent costumes and tremendously vigorous acting. Three problems: first, the plot becomes too convoluted in the second Act, even for adults who know the story. Second, the language throughout is quite complex, possibly too difficult for anyone under 7 or 8. Third, it is scary, particularly as the actors are so close to the audience.... More

Took our grandchildren aged 6 and 4, and not only they, but their parents and grandparents were completed held in awe at the total performance. Lots of surprises, laughter and slightly dark in places! Look forward to seeing them again at The Mill, Banbury.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas for me and my family without a trip to see the latest Creation performance, and this year we were extra excited as it was one of our favourite stories - Treasure Island! But what would they do? Aaah, as they say. A rollicking trip around the Louis Stevenson classic with plenty of good gags, ship shape... More
