The footpath behind where we stayed, 'The Head Of The River' led straight into Christchurch Meadow, a lovely open area ideal for walking or just sitting back and watching the amazing Red Kites that ride the thermals overhead. The views of Christchurch College are spectacular and the visitors entrance is in the meadow grounds.

despite the hundreds of tourists visiting the college, you only have to walk a few minutes to the river too be away from it all. a picnic in summer of a brisk walk when the weather is not so kind are both a great way to enjoy the meadows.

This is a haven away from the noise of the city centre. Walk down to the river past the old meadow - even some cows there in the summer.

Beautiful, what more can you say. One of the gems of Oxford city (of course it's blessed with lots more). Just had a no wind, no rain, no cold opportunity to gaze at it all. Just great.

The meadow is lovely in the morning - there's still some fog and lots of ducks splashing around in puddles near the river. It was the perfect place for a morning jog away from all the bike traffic of the city.

Simply amazing! Fell in love with that place. Even more after knowing about its history. Nature and architecture are perfectly matched to give a fairytale experience. It's a wonderful place to bring children for a picnic on a lazy summer day. <3

Full of history and a good college to know about. Considered as one of the most important colleges. The guided tour person will give the complete facts about the college like a story teller with Oxford accent!

Framed by the beautiful college buildings and the river this is a beautiful and relaxing place to escape, yet is right in the heart of the city. Definitely feels like you are walking in the footsteps of generations of Oxford's academic past.

This walk across open fields along very muddy pathways is a good way to get around the city without having to walk through the shopping areas.
