This old meadow and parkland by Christ Church College and Merton College is by the Thames. Lovely trees, tree stumps and longhorn cattle kept the grandchildren engaged. Just off city centre streets, there is no charge and plenty of room. No bicycles allowed and access is only in daylight hours. The first English hot air balloon ascent was from here.

We walked through here and thought it was lovely and peaceful. We enjoyed watching the punters on the river at the end.

Christ Church Meadow is only 250 metres from my front door. I run there regularly and we walk through it to get to the city centre rather than take the direct route up St Aldates. Why? Because it is a peaceful, beautiful and ever changing landscape with tall trees, farm animals and glorious views towards the colleges ( Christ Church,... More

This is the third time I have visited Oxford and there is nothing as pleasurable as taking a stroll through the Christ Church Meadow. We watched some school boys playing cricket, sat for a while in the shade of the beautiful trees, admired the ducks, geese and squirrels. We took some great photos with the cityscape of Oxford as a... More

There is a stretch of the river and a footpath that runs dreamily alongside and on a warm summers day, it is bliss. Places to sit and relax under sprawling shady trees on the river bank whilst enjoying watching punters on the river, Take a picnic, sit on a bench or sit on the grass, but do enjoy it. We've... Great place to enjoy a picnic in the center of Oxford. Sometimes it can be a bit crowded but rightfully so because of how exceptional the space is.

We followed all the tourists into this garden. You can smell the lavender as you go by. It is a lovely spot to wander through.

A wonderful tranquil area within the city centre. You feel the weight of history as you stroll along the broad avenue with living history all around you!

Nice to walk around if you have extra time and want to have the feel of Oxford. The gates are open until 9pm, I think so it is just to get in.
