When the sights of Oxford get too much for you, one can meander across the Christ Church Meadow to get a different perspective of the city. A path also leads down to the River Thames and if one has the foresight to pack a sandwich and a drink, nothing better can be recommended than a lazy afternoon watching the punts... More

So nice to get away from the busy streets and wander over to the river for a stroll along the path. Having such large and accessible greenspaces is what makes Oxford a nice place to visit rather thana tiring one.

Do it at the weekend if you want to see a bit of action on the river - punters, rowers, lovers in pedalo-boats, canal-boats and the well-healed enjoying a river picnic. Start at the Head of the River Pub by Folly Bridge. Just behind the pub is a footpath and a wee pedestrian bridge leading onto the beautiful path beside... More

Stunning views of Christ Church college & a 'chocolate box' scene just inside the main gates of an old cottage complete with a cottage garden.

The grounds of Christ Church are absolutely beautiful. It is September and all the flowers are still in bloom. There were a few student cleaning the walkways that lead to the meadow. What a wonderful place to spend your college years!

We walked by this with our guide who was in a hurry to get to the Church before it closed for the day. This is a very scenic and relaxing spot, perfect for taking photos, taking a leisure stroll or sitting and having an afternoon snack.

We had never visited the meadow before because, I think, the Christ Church college being closed, previously, we had never walked this far down but this time our hotel being a little way down abingdon Road and out of town we came across this lovely walk and did it twice. There are fine views of the college and church spires... More

This place is amazing, just minutes from the city centre and like being in the countryside. Fields with cattle in them. The river next to it. A lovely tranquil place, great for a lunch time walk when working in Oxford.
