As an exhibition space and the fact that it is on several levels which makes it more interesting it is excellent. However it must be one the ugliest buildings in Nottingham it looks as if it was put together from offcuts of a lurid 60's faux kitchen as dreamed up by a part time B&Q designer with lot of bits... The Nottingham Contemporary is small, but the architecture allows for great space to showcase the art (the building in and of itself is worth seeing). The exhibits change often so there's no reason why I won't be going back. An hour would be ample time to comfortably view the galleries, so I wouldn't make a day of it but the... More

Less is more!!! We went to see the Chatsworth house exhibit and it was fantastic. All the oil paintings were amazing and it was great to be able to see them close up. The fact that entrance is free is even better and I would encourage you to visit it each time it has a new exhibit as it is... More

The Chatsworth exhibition included some of the Duke's silver collection the likes of which I've never seen before. (The pics I've attached don't do them justice. Permission was granted to take them - the photos that is) Also there was an amazing collection of ceramics the highlight of which was the Delft pottery. When you look at them you realise... More

The good.........It is free and no flash photos can be taken The Bad..........Very few exhibits in the 4 galleries The Ugly.........Nothing really fitting together to give it a sense of a well planned and thought provoking museum.

I wish to visit this place and see what is inside but unfortunately when I arrived it was closed and don't know the reason. It seems most of attractions are close earlier but plan to visit again. The structure of the building is very attractive and worth enjoying the art.

Having spare time I thought I would go here to see the Chatsworth exhibition only to be told by THREE receptionists that they were closed on a Monday. Not only did this not go down well with me ( as it is poorly listed on the web sight) but also with two groups of foreign visitors. Why on earth we... More

This was my first visit, but my artist daughter's third. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and the exhibit that we saw was based around Chatsworth. It is a little on the small side but ideal for smaller children for that very reason. My daughter would like it to be bigger and more varied but enjoyed the shop with... More

Strange place but many be that's because I'm not really into art. On the lower floor there is a great eating place, the food was excellent. There is even a terrace area to sit out on, weather permitting They have events on for the kids which including making things. It's free to visit.
