some Disabled access , doors wide and lifts. The group who investigated the venue had mixed feelings about the Gallery, and to be fair, it depends what is being exhibited. There are lots of events though , so the Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery is worth more than one visit!

Our first visit during the school hols with my 5 and 3 year old children with mother in law and we were followed around constantly by the rather abrupt staff. I felt that I shouldn't be there! As an art lover, I have visited several galleries with my children and never had this kind of reception. Won't be going again... More

Contemporary has a rotating display in the galleries on the main level. Some of these seem to stay for a long time and some not so. I've usually found them interesting. Not all exhibitions are suitable for the whole family although usually there is something child friendly. On Saturdays and during the school holidays they have excellent free children's activities... Went to see a band play in the cafe bar area one Saturday evening. After 9 pm they would only serve drinks inc beer and wine in plastic ,very weak wobbly cups. Being adults and out on a Saturday evening we were expecting a nice drink in a nice glass, how wrong were we, anyone would think we were at... More

I was a fantastic experience seeing the museum and the exhibits, particularly the Chetwyn works. Nottingham Contemporary stands on par with many of the galleries in London I have visited. I would highly recommend a visit! You will come away amazed!

When it first opened, there was a great choice of exhibitions and a friendly café/bar area. Now there's scarcely anything worth bothering with, the café area is full of screaming kids and staff concerned only with their own image (except for one barman) and the toilets are dirty. Wotta shame ...

It is free to visit, but donations welcomed. Please check prior to visiting as certain so called art collections may not be to everyone's taste, and may not be suitable for children to see. Which was the point on this visit

The exhibits are always very engaging for the children, so they can genuinely find something interesting about them. The food is very good (although the Sunday roast is not as good as the normal menu) and the craft workshops are a great way to spend a rainy day. And all for free (donation optional). The big lockers to put coats... More

We like the Contemporary Art Gallery Building but visited today and found the exhibition quite revolting. It was not even interesting or shocking - just revolting. A great shame as the actual building is a good resource for Nottingham. It is due to the Exhibition, not the building, that I have rated this attraction "poor".

I took my five year old granddaughter and didn't know what to expect as I'd not been before as I live in London so this was a new experience. I liked the huge and bright use of space, although the art exhibition didn't "speak to me" as such. What I simply adored was the craft room in the basement where... More
