The Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery always puts on the good show but the current one is world class. I wanted to see Glenn Ligon's work having read in the national papers that he is a favourite of Barack Obama's, and I was thrilled to see work by Jackson Pollack, Basquiat, Warhol, Jasper Johns, etc, and a film by Steve McQueen.... I and my partner went in to see what Nottingham Contemporary was like and we left a bit disappointed; there was a theme of climate change and conversation in the three exhibition halls but actual art pieces seemed few and far between and was more focused on information panels scattered over the exhibition space. There was also little to link... More

Their "Rights of Nature" exhibition was fantastic. Very different to anything I have seen before and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into the arrangement and information of the exhibit. Curators very friendly and knowledgable. Beautiful gallery and reasonably priced in the cafe. Would definitely return.

I have been to the contemporary several times. The restaurant is pretty good and they do have some good workshops for kids. However, I really think that they need to re-think the way they exhibit some of the art-works with children in mind. Last time I went, my eldest was told off for gently touching a piece of marble! (Would... More

the art is worth seeing. Mostly it is touring shows, which can be bit meh. But persevere, they can surprise you (and you can always pop into Galleries of Justice cafe, anyway). I do like the Contemporary building, though.

This is a free art gallery based in a interesting building in the middle of Nottingham. We saw the "Rights of Nature" exhibition. Even my partner who is not a fan of modern art was able to get something out of the installations. We thought it was interesting and thought provoking. It is a small gallery, so it doesn't take... Always something to provoke your thoughts. Various rooms holding exhibitions. Great cafe that even serves real ale!! The gift area is really good and has some great gifts for kids.

We visited to see the vast display of Poppies that people in Nottinghamshire knitted for remembrance day. It was amazing. If that is anything to go by then it is worth a visit while you are in Nottingham.

Been lots of time. The exhibitions are always thought provoking. My daughter loves the activities in the space. Good food in the cafe and great life music on certain nights s well. A true public service for the arts
