A magnificent 17th century ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle. The Castle has a turbulent past, linked to kings and conquerors and still has a maze of original caves hidden beneath its imposing walls. Now the building houses a Museum & Art Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to see the best regional, national and international art in the regularly changing exhibition galleries. Plus the permanent exhibitions showcase costume and textiles, silverware, glass and a glimpse into Nottingham's history.

At the moment our museum has the fabulous 15th century Lacock Cup, courtesy of the British Museum, until 10 April. It is a rare survival of pre-Reformation English silverware. On 30 July our Leonardo da Vinci Exhibition opens, with ten of that famous artist's drawings being graciously loaned from Windsor Castle by HM The Queen! On 2 May is our... More

Came here for the light festival at night. And I've also visited the Castle during the day. It's a nice little walk around the gardens and inside the Castle houses some good bots of artwork. It didn't blow me away but it's a nice place to visit.

Only £6 for adults and a perfect way to while away a few hour site seeing. Kids will love it. Lots of interactive resources for them.

I must admit we didn't pick a best day to go it was bucketing it down with rain but we had wanted to see the castle so went anyway, we weren't that impressed with it to be brutally honest, wolloton hall is bigger and is free entry, whereas Nottingham castle charge £6 per head. We aren't massive art fans so... More

Came here with a friend for a catch up and ended up spending most of the day in the café, having lovely food, hot chocolate and tea and taking in the fantastic view in a wonderfully airy space with friendly staff.
