The Castle has a turbulent past, linked to kings and conquerors and still has a maze of original caves hidden beneath its imposing walls. Now the building houses a Museum & Art Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to see the best regional, national and international art in the regularly changing exhibition galleries. Plus the permanent exhibitions showcase costume and textiles, silverware, glass and a glimpse into Nottingham's history. « less

Very unattractive location. View from the castle is the worst I have seen worldwide. One side you can see what resembles a nuclear plant, the other side horrid architecture from 60's and 70's. Inside the castle is supposed to be a museum, but refused to go there. Looked dark, uncomfortable, unattractive. Had choice of whole 2 fridge magnets in the... More

I am Nottinghamshire born and bred but have not been to the castle for forty years so with friends from Kent we visited today, it was excellent. We did the riots ad rebellions tour with Sebastian who is a great entertainer and then went down Mortimers hole with " maid Marion" who was very funny and made the trip very... More

This is our 2nd visit to the festival. Excellent range of beers. Food over priced £7.30 for a hot dog that's ridiculous. Something needs doing about this & the prices bringing down. When you enter the castle they mark your hand with a stamper, so that if you need to leave the festival you can return at any time, that's... More

Make sure you do the tour of the tunnels otherwise you wont get the history behind the castle. Great views and tour guide

We've been there when they were also putting up some big tents for the upcoming beer fest, so we didn't enjoy the green yard that much, but still a nice tour. There are some underground tunnels which you can explore, too.

I have visited the castle and grounds many times and never thought about the admission price, however on my visit today i was dissapointed to find the grounds unavailable because of a "beer and cider" festival being prepared. We could only walk just around the outside of the castle and couldn't even get to the childrens play area, very dissapointing... More

Alright its not really a castle but the museum and art gallery are super. Very good interactive displays completely spoiled by extremely noisy school pupils. There were a lot of school parties when we were there and most did not appreciate the excellent displays and work that had gone into the museum. For an additional charge we went on the... More

Anyone outside of Nottingham, who has seen Kevin Costner & Morgan Freeman's first sight of Nottingham Castle in Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves would be understandably disappointed when confronted by the Barratt Homes reality of our castle's actual appearance. Flat-topped (no spires in sight) and situated atop an amazing slab of sandstone, NC (Nottingham Castle) is actually better than... More
