The Castle has a turbulent past, linked to kings and conquerors and still has a maze of original caves hidden beneath its imposing walls. Now the building houses a Museum & Art Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to see the best regional, national and international art in the regularly changing exhibition galleries. Plus the permanent exhibitions showcase costume and textiles, silverware, glass and a glimpse into Nottingham's history. « less

Me and my boyfriend went up last weekend to visit friends and thought while we wait we would go and see the castle. We both love things like this and both very disappointed. It is not a castle, more a manor house with some random art gallery inside. We expected more Robin Hood theme too considering the area, but again... More

It's a 'House' that stands where the Castle was situated. The Military display is Impressive, and some of the Views of Nottingham. You will be "Very Disappointed" If your looking for some kind of connection to "Robin Hood."

This is not a castle, its a large mansion which is a bit of a museum - little connection with medieval Nottingham or Robin Hood if that is what you were hoping for. The caves & dungeon tour is good & the Brewhouse Yard Museum at the foot of Castle Rock is good - Parking poor.

We have visited the Castle twice now once when my family came up from the south coast which they found very interesting. We visited the caves on that occasion plus the many art and pictures . The last time we visited on our own when there was an open day promoting the many things they carry out during the year.... More

Nottingham Castle should be one of the must-see places on your list. There is statue of Robin Hood who welcomes you with a streched bow and arrow and you walk around in a huge castle-gate to enter a wonderfully landscaped garden. Walk up the stairs leads you to a wonderful museum which takes you back though the History of Nottingham.... More

It's been a years since I went so it's not really anything to shout about. The grounds are nice but the Castle is rather boring.
