Took a trip to the farne islands with my grandson using Billy Sheils. Pricing was very reasonable, £15.00 per adult and £10.00 per child. The trip, including an Island landing takes approx 2 1/2 hours. Seating is bench type around the inside of the boat and down the centre, a little uncomfy, but hey, its a boat not a cruise... More

A large group of us went on the grey seal trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. The captain was very knowledgeable and his enthusiasm came across in his commentary. Despite the time of year when most birds had migrated we were still lucky to see puffins and many other varieties of cormorants. In addition the seals were out in force and... More

The boat was packed! No shade, but breezy and fairly comfortable on plank seats in the boat. Informative chatter from the captain who was friendly and pointed out the wildlife and birds along the way. Sadly, most of the puffins had already migrated, but there were some rafts of them left for us to see. We spent an hour on... More

Just finished a week's worth of diving with Eastleigh Sub Aqua Club on Glad Tidings VII. The booking process with Billy Shiel's was really straightforward. We were able to charter the dive boat for the week allowing us two dives per day (very good price too). The boat is licensed for 16 but there were only 12 of us so... More

This was our second trip with Billy Shiels (we did the same one last year), it's something you have to do if you're in Northumbria. The guys on the boats are so friendly and point out wildlife along the way and they slowed down quite a few times for us to see some seals and puffins. It's great on the... More

This was really good value. The staff gave regular information pointing out various key points. On return back to the harbor the navigator pointed out some dolphins he had spotted instead of staying rigidly on course he slowed the boat down and circled the boat so we didn`t miss the dolphins. Very friendly staff

We booked on line to make sure as it can get quite busy during the holiday period. It was quite chaotic on the pier when trying to board the boat as there are quite a lot of different trips leaving at around the same time. Once aboard however the crew were helpful and full of information about the islands. A... More

OK - I'm in Northumberland 2 or 3 times a year and I do this trip as often as I can. The boats vary (Glad Tidings I, II, III, IV etc) and the weather is seasonal and unpredictable, but if it looks calm enough for your own sea legs then climb on board! I've had sunburn from the heat in... More

Wonderful to see the Farne Islands close up with the bird and seal colonies, made extra special by the landing on Inner Farne. A must if you're in the area.

The seating was hard, unclean and smelt of wet dog-of which there were 3 on board! Children had their feet on the seating although told not to.The information afforded to us was minimal-and only about some birds and seals. A young leggy redhead spent the entire trip in the cabin with the 2 operatives-perhaps that was the distraction. There was... More
