Decided to visit and booked a tour. Guide was very informative but a bit too willing to give the group his political opinions. Was fantastic to see the rooms etc remodelled by Rennie MacIntosh, but felt it was stretching the trade descriptions act to market it as a 'Rennie MacIntosh' house. Had a very acceptable scone and tea before the... More

Brilliant small museum. Good tour guide lots of information and insight into the design and decor of the only work done by Charles Rennie Mackintosh outside of Scotland. Was a bit hard to find as there was little to give it way as being a museum until you are walking past it.

This house formerly owned by Bassett Lowke, a local, famous model maker, and designed for him by Rene Mackintosh. Well worth a visit, nice cafe, and presentation of the life and work of Bassett Lowke. Located in the Cultural Quarter in the centre of Northampton.

Long been a fan of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's designs and, as we were passing Northampton enroute to London, we took the opportunity to stop in at this example of the artist's work. Closest parking is at the St. John's car park, a few minutes walk from Derngate. The museum is bright, spacious and well organized; the guides are very helpful... More

Amazing restoration, fascinating insight into the period. The guide was very informative pointing out lots of details otherwise would not have known or could have missed, especially background to the Loke-Basset family.

My friends and I enjoyed our visit to the house very much. The staff (who I guess are volunteers) are very knowledgeable and welcoming and the house is very interesting and well restored. We also enjoyed a fabulous afternoon tea in The Dining Room.

I have tried on three separate occasions to visit this house without success. The first time was on my birthday when we were told that places had sold out. We decided to stay for a cup of tea and a cake which was served on a dirty table and the cake was dry. The second time we were told that... More

What an impressive building! I loved how Art Deco it was, lovely to see a house so beautifully renovated. Will definitely be telling my friends to visit!
