Lovely little museum. Compact but fascinating. The guides were excellent. Interesting video to start the tour and a couple of small art exhibitions that were quite likeable too.

This town house was decorated by Rennie Macintosh and has been restored. It is a fascinating house, right down to the art deco garden. The guides are very enthusiastic. We finished off the tour by treating ourselves to lunch in the restaurant - recommended!

I absolutely loved our day at 78 Derngate. Having been a place that Mackintosh designed and loved, it is so special to walk around and look at all his crazy, mind-blowing designs that he was so clever and brave to create! We also had a tour-guide who told us all about each room in the house - I would recommend... More

Loved the tour around with tour guide - Philip Nash. And was excited to know all about the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Design and Basett Lock the owner. A must see in Northampton.

Anyone interested in Charles Rennie Mackintosh should visit this delightful little museum and, if you are unfamiliar with his work, then come here and be prepared to be surprised. We had an interesting guided tour which lasted just over an hour which I'd highly recommend. With CRM being so ahead of his time and I'm amazed he had any commissions.... More

Having lived in Glasgow for many years and visiting lots of Rennie Mackintosh buildings there it was a surprise to find this as the only house he had designed in England. It has been restored to its original glory under the tutelage of Eric Knowles and is a real delight to visit. The visit is supplemented by a free guide... More

Been wanting to go and see 78 Derngate for ages, especially as it was used by my old school for lessons, and I have happy memories of racing around the building before our teachers turned up! We had no idea it was such an iconic building, and to be honest, in 1973, it was falling to pieces and in a... More

Afternoon tea must be booked in advance. But is more than worth any effort involved in booking or finding parking. One of the best afternoon teas I have ever had! Don't think about it, just book it.
