It's great to have this museum in Northampton. It's interesting and well laid out. There is not a huge amount to see but I guess they have rescued what they could in the renovations.

A fascinating property and a very educational guide. Leave time for a visit to the tea room! Worth a visit. We are going to go again.

I have previously visited the stunning Charles Rennie Mackintosh museum at 78 Derngate & would thoroughly recommend a tour. On this occasion my daughters treated me to a "Pims afternoon tea" in the museum's restaurant. The 2 course meal, which as well as the large glass of Pims included unlimited cups of tea or coffee ( the staff were very... More

As I am Scottish, I am familiar with Charles Rennie Mackintosh's architecture and design, so i was delighted to see that 79, Derngate (his last commission) was open to the public. This is a smallish house, but there are lots of interesting things to see, from the kitchen to the family rooms and bedrooms. There is an excellent lift for... More

A beautiful small property, with some wonderful interior designs by Charles Rennie Macintosh. The ground floor front room alone is worth the price of admission. The interior is radically different from what you might expect from the exterior, which yields no clues apart from a lovely Macintosh designed front door.Everything is well presented and some small displays in a adjoining... I've had several afternoon teas at 78 Derngate and they've always been wonderful, with superbly attentive and friendly service. I don't understand the fuss about the house though. There don't appear to be any original features and it's pretty boring in my opinion. I'm sure fans of houses will love it though.

Visited the house after being bought an afternoon tea for Xmas. My review is split between the afternoon tea which I'd rate a 4 and the house itself which I'd rate 2. Didn't know much about 78 Derngate except the macintosh link and that it was quite a small attraction. We were lucky in that we managed to get onto... More

A wonderful informative guide showed a video about the restoration first, before leading us through this fascinating house giving insight into why and how it came to be decorated in designs by Mackintosh, who never actually visited the place. His designs are, to say the least, dazzling - could anybody actually sleep in that guest bedroom with it's dizzy-making stripes?... More
