Northampton, being much of a clone town, has little to offer visitors, unless you like, pound, charity and betting shops. The traffic is often gridlocked and the locals. a mixture of unsmiling English and Eastern europeans, make you yearn for the friendliness of opp North. However one of its rare gems is the lovely Royal theatre, one could almost imagine... More

I've been here a few times, but this is the first time I've felt compelled to review as I love how versatile this theatre is. There are (at least) two theatre auditoriums in this venue, a new modern style that can provide 4 sided theatre or the standard theatre and an older looking auditorium with lots of atmosphere. Theatre is... More

Visited the theatre for the first time in June to see John Williams and the Royal Philharmonic orchestra. The concert was amazing and the theatre didnt disappoint either. A modern well laid out theatre, comfortable seating with terrific accoustics. Will certainly be on the look out for an excuse to visit again, very soon!

We visit regularly and rarely see a play that isn't first class production, especially those produced in house.

Wicked Way Café. Sandwiches can be made fresh to order or pick one up ready made. Have a portion of really fresh chips with them, delicious. Not the cheapest but nice food in nice surroundings and free WiFi. Lick frozen yogurt. I'm addicted. Have it straight or with fresh berries or chocolate chunks. Try pineapple and coconut for a pina... More

Visited on a regular basis. Good variety of performances, some exceptional, none bad. Staff very helpful and friendly. Interval drinks down to a fine art. Not the theatres fault but parking now needs consideration when visiting / leaving.

The Royal part of the Royal and Derngate is a gem of a theatre with many original features which make it both intimate and atmospheric.

We went to see Let it Be at this theatre and thoroughly enjoyed the show and the facilities at the theatre. There is a good deal of parking close by and it is even FREE on Bank Holidays and Sundays and only £1 after 6pm on weekdays. The theatre is fairly modern and consequently all seats have a reasonably good... More
