Delightful Victorian theatre with a wide variety of plays being performed. Over the years I have attended English premiers, European premiers and even World premiers. A provincial theatre with an excellent reputation for being adventurous. Add this to a modern concert hall that adapts to one-man shows, groups, plays, musicals, ballet, dance and any other form of theatrical genre you... More

Royal and Derngate is a lovely combination of old style theatre The Royal and modern Derngate. They have good productions bars and cafe and plenty of car parking The Errol Flynn cinema is attached , haven't tried there yet but very keen to go. This complex is worth a visit

Derngate is fit for purpose, having visited twice in a month since the refurbishment, I can't say that in the theatre itself a great deal has changed. The only difference is that the fireman red railings are gone. Northampton should look once again to MK to see how to do it right. Staff are friendly and helpful.

What a great surprise to come to this theatre and find it to be recently modernised but in a way which added to the charm of the original building. The auditorium is wonderful and the acoustics superb. The front of house area is modern, comfortable and welcoming. I will definitely be back.

This performance was outstanding, the acting was excellent, the sets innovative and the music by Rachel Portman just brilliant. We've seen some great plays in the Royal but this was the best yet. We'll look out for the next R & D Ensemble piece

Great performance of Wind in the WIllos, can be a hard one to pull off but very well done!! GREAT kids acting and clever set, loved it! Was a bit pricey though or would see more shows there.

I've been going to the R&D for about 5 years now and the choice of acts, concerts, shows and such like never ceases to amaze. Great names as well as up-and-coming acts appear here on a regular basis. Their 'Friends' membership is very worthwhile if you attend often! A great little theatre, centrally-located with friendly staff and a good selection... More

The theatre is old but still a decent night out. Car parking is not that easy with the theatre a good 5 minute walk up hill which is not brilliant for someone like me who cannt walk very far but who doesn't qualify for a disabled parking badge !!! All that aside I would recommend this theatre for a night... More

I went to the Derngate in Northampton last night to see the show "Beyond the Barricade". This show, celebrating it's fifteenth anniversary with songs from the World's greatest musicals in concert was beyond all expectations. The show is well worth seeing with excellent voices accompanied by 3 superb musicians all of which just left you wanting more. I believe the... More
