It is very informal, and friendly, although not a very long track. Good for a relaxing afternoon, and very reasonably priced

You won't be going very far on this railway. The trains travel around 400 yards in each direction as one reviewer has already mentioned. Having said that, it's a bit of fun and the staff are all very keen and enthusiastic. The Brampton Halt pub next door (the old station master's house) is excellent.

If you are expecting something on the same scale as the Great Central Railway or the North Yorkshire Moors Railway you will be disappointed. However if you just want somewhere different to go for a Sunday afternoon this ticks the boxes. I arrived just after the train left so took the decision to take a walk along the path that... More

We went as an entire family, ranging from just under 1 to 60 (ish) for a cream tea and train ride. The staff are very helpful, polite and accomodating, they didn't even mind the mess the youngest made with his cream scone and simply wouldn't let us clear up! The carriages were all 50s and 60s vintage on this journey... More

My 3 and 4 year old boys are train crazy, so most weeks we are doing something train related. On this occasion my wife and 2 daughters were with us. This is an excellent local medium size historic railway and at £4.80 for old adult to ride all day, is likely the best value we have been to. It was... More

I was just reading some previous reviews and though a lot were quite harsh. The car park is not well signposted I do agree but it is free unlike some places, and it would be quite easy and not too expensive too regenerate some of the areas like the ticket office ect. However I thought that for £4.80 to ride... More

Reading some of the views about how expensive this is, I personally don't think so, £4.90 for an all day ticket. Ok it's not the longest track and you won't spend a whole day here on trains but you will be well received by the staff and able to have a good nose around the trains and signal box. Plenty... More

Very poor value, not interesting, would not recommend. Thought the train journey of approx 400 yards was a joke.

We took our 4 year old & his great gran there on Easter Monday, as they've enjoyed steam train rides elsewhere (Chasewater & Battlefield Lines to name but two), and found the whole experience a little dissapointing. I'd checked their website,so knew it was a very short line and ride time, but on the day we were surprised to find the... More

It's run by enthusiasts and it shows, scruffy and unkempt and not enough line open to show off the beautiful countryside, 400 yards one way then back through the station to a position another 400 yards away in the opposite direction.
