Lovely pre christmas visit. Highly recommend the Christmas fair. Paid to go round the gardens as a group of two families and they even took us through the house to show us the oldest garden gnome in the world.

We stayed there just over a couple of hours, enjoying the gardens. Althuogh the gardens were not huge, they are well maintained.

I gather that the property isn't always open even during 'the season', so we were glad to be fortunate enough to be able to visit on an 'open' weekend a couple of weeks ago. As a visitor attraction, the house benefits from its having been owned by an interesting and colourful family - the Ishams; whose personalities (and personal relationships),... More

Please note it is now closed until April 2016. Came today with a coach party of Royal Academy Friends and it was opened specially for us. It was a revelation. I hadn't been aware of this place before our excursion was arranged and although our time was limited it was well worth the expense. We were divided into three small... More

My wife and I had rejoined the HHA (£75...visited 27 properties last year) and decided to visit Lamport Hall whilst in Northamptonshire and found the tour( 2.15 or 3.00) (approx 75 mins in a party of twelve...rather long) very interesting and informative. We had a lovely pot of tea with a scone/cream/jam £4.00 in the Victorian Dining Room after our... More

The tour guide kept us confined in the entrance hall for the first 15 minutes, describing EVERY painting and piece of furniture. This was despite the fact that we had already spent 10 minutes in the entrance hall waiting for the tour to start. The tour group was far too large (22 adults plus a baby) and when we managed... This is a beautiful house that has been lovingly restored-sadly only open for 3 hours on the few days it is open during the year. 3 hours is really not enough sadly, if-as like us- you had a tour guide of the house that took an hour and a half to talk about so many things that we sadly stopped... We visited Lamport Hall on our way home from Shropshire. We joined a guided tour and Eric was very knowledgable about the hall and it was very interesting. We ended the tour with a nice cup of tea and a piece of cake

We called in to Lamport Hall as we were passing and were so glad that we did. The house has a wealth of interest and the gardens whilst not in full bloom during our visit were still a picture with the spring bulbs.
