This theatre is lovely, an interesting mix of a very traditional performance space along with a smaller studio and a very modern glass-fronted bar area. The staff are all lovely, very friendly and helpful. Wherever you sit you are pretty much guaranteed a decent view. We saw the annual panto which was fab.

This was our fourth York panto and Berwick Kaler was brilliant as ever in his usual role as the dame, this time as Hettie Hood, mother of Robin. The way satirical comments, banter between actors as actors and the story itself are all woven together with the traditional mix of slapstick and song was highly entertaining. One of the highlights... More

This is the best panto ever. We have been going for the last 15 years and it never disappoints. Many of the jokes are the same and there is no real story but it is brilliant!! We are looking forward to next year already!

We have been coming to Berwicks panto since 1994 and it is always brilliant. We have bought lots of different friends over the years and they have all loved it and now our children come too and will spend all year asking if we are booking for the next one. Last nights was no exception the costumes are hilarious ,the... More

I have been taking as many of my family who can come, to this Pantomime, since 1992 and we have never been disapointed in the show, the dedication and energy of every performer, combined with the variety and excellence of Costumes and Scenery give every member of the packed Audience an evening to remember with affection and nostalgia. How the... More

Great theatre, varied programme, from family shows, the famous pantomime, new writing in the excellent studio theatre, youth theatre productions, classics, touring companies. No-one could like everything but YTR are to be commended for balancing an eclectic mix from contemporary to classical with panache and professionalism. Great theatre! Support it!

This is our fifth year of attending and we still look forward to it each year. Despite the change in the lead baddie (boo, hiss) the performance was brilliant. Looking forward to next year already. Definitely a Christmas highlight not to be missed!
