Don't expect to buy tickets for St Leonard's Place - as the Theatre Royal is not there at the moment. You'll have to make your way out of central York to the NRM for all theatre productions including the world famous pantomime starring Berwick Kaler until well into 2016. This has not stopped productions of very high quality and popularity... More

This production is excellent. You really feel part of it especially as we were on the front row which is on the stage. This seating was very fortunate as I would not have enjoyed the performance any where near as much on any of the rows behind. The seats are very snug in width and, I noticed, in leg room.... More

We loved the Railway Children! The only problem was the seating. The leg room was really totally inadequate if you were over 5'5", and led to "jiffling" to try to get legs in a comfortable position, which impacted on the person on the seat below whose seat was being knocked on the back. The interval was welcome to stretch legs... More

The production of the Railway Children is great in an appropriate setting - but the seating is fit for children not adults. Ridiculous leg room!

What a brilliant production. A tremendous night out. Would really recommend it. Just one thing - the seats are terrible with absolutely no leg room if you are over 5ft 6in tall. If the new theatre doesn't have more room than this it will be a disaster.

Inventively staged at the National Railway Museum this production mesmerised and entertained from the very start. The production, the direction and the players were all of a standard rarely found outside of London... The story was told with great aplomb and wit and I take my hat off to all those involved in this outstanding production. Simply brilliant!

What a brilliant show, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The York Railway Museum what a wonderful venue The whole cast were excellent, the chaps that moved the stages backwards and forwards did a good job too ! The scene with Mr Perk's birthday party moved a lot of people in our party to tears. Would definitely recommend it to young and... More

This was one of the best performances of this play I have ever seen and everyone is to be congratulated on producing such a magnificent show. The acting was superb and the lighting and sound effects made the atmosphere magical. The only downside was the seats in the Signal Box Theatre are not very comfortable and cramped with poor leg... Absolutely brilliant. Perks was very funny. Absolutely loved the show and would highly recommend for children and adults alike. The theatre is like a big tent from the outside and I was a little concerned we might find it cold but it was far from it. Drinks where reasonable for a theatre. Highly recommended.
