This production by the Signal Box Theatre at the National Railway Museum telling the story of George Hudson was amateurish, tedious and low on content. Save your money and don't go. I feel ripped off having paid £20 for over 3 hours of poor quality theatre.

I cannot wait to see the theatre when the work has been completed. It is a truly magical experience and if you see nothing else go to the panto with Berwick as the Dame. A beautiful old atmospheric theatre with all the modem lighting and effects.

York Theatre Royal is currently closed for a major £4.1M redevelopment. The Theatre has now taken up temporary residency at the National Railway Museum, in the Signal Box Theatre, a 1000 seat, heated, semi-permanent, purpose built auditorium. For my visit, this venue was hosting the York Theatre Royal, National Railway Museum and Pilot Theatre production of "In Fog and Falling... More

We visited today as one of the lucky few who got free tickets to see the theatre as never seen before. The theatre closed in March 2015 to undergo a £4.1 million renovation. The whole auditorium has been ripped out and dug up to reveal all kinds of archaeological treasures including foundations of the 12th century St Leonard's Hospice, Roman... More

Visited last night to see South Pacific. The show itself was terrific - so much talent and enthusiasm in one place was a joy to watch. Unfortunately the cast were savagely over-miked, which did their singers no favours at all. The mikes threw 'feed back' echoes out with every strong voice and spoiled the performance. Whatever happened to the days... More

This little gem of a theatre is great to visit to see the performance of your choice. The circle and above are very high with steps but the stalls are very accessible to everyone.Lots of leg room in the stalls and easy viewing from all seats.Any description is, however, irrelevant because our visit was to one of the last performances before... We were able to catch two shows at the Theatre Royal over a long weekend in York. One was a new two-person play (Restoration of Nell Gwyn) in the small space, and the second a more elaborate production (Kite Runner) in the large theatre. Kite Runner was a traveling production from Nottingham (not so far away). Given that we live... More

Having being a bit disillusioned with the panto for the last couple of years, due to the best villain in the area (David Leonard) absconding for London shows, I was not going to book for 2014/15, until I discovered that he was back- BOO, HISS AND HURRAY, in equal measures! Enjoyed myself thoroughly, especially the hip swivelling from David, which... More
