Went to see Christmas Panto, lovely theatre, great atmosphere and comfy seats! Seats well laid out for all to be able to see stage and sound was excellent.

In truth, this is a quaint little theater with lots of character. Whereas the lobby and entrance/cafe area is modern and clean, the theater itself is styled on a grand royal opera-house, but on a smaller scale. The building is definitely not designed for speedy access egress, as the corridors and stairs are not very wide or accommodating at all... More

This is a lovely venue, beautiful in the auditorium and gives a good range of shows including Panto Musicals and straight plays. Wll worth a visit.

Keen theatregoer and love the Theatre Royal. It is not a large theatre by some standards but is wonderful to visit. Looking forward to seeing Blythe Spirit there next month. The seats are comfortable and the decoration good.

Visited while on a very short trip to York: extremely pretty Victorian theatre with modern bar / cafe extension in great central location, with very friendly staff - as everywhere in York! Only slight drawback for some users would be the limited lift access to various areas - would ask ahead of your visit if this might be an issue.

We saw one of these a few years ago. But I don't remember what it was called. The theatre is a well established attraction in an attractive building.

Fantastic show in this very attractive theatre. The seats are comfortable with more than adequate leg room. Attentive front of house staff and good facilities.

Lucky enough to catch the Hot Mikado show after dining in the theatre. Enjoyable meal with friendly and enthusiastic staff. Almost as enthusiastic as the cast of the York Light Opera Company who bubbled over with froth and bursts of exceptional talent.

A very small theatre in the heart of the city. If you get an opportunity to go to theatre then take it. The atmosphere is great and if you visit during the pantomime season then you are in for the experience of a lifetime. Don't miss it, but book well in advance.
