Fantastic last night - again. It was impossible to tell when they were following the script or ad libbing which was so brilliant we did not when it was happening. Great to see the back room staff making an appearance. Attended the last night six times and still have not caught a Wagon Wheel!!!!!!

This was, we think, the 21st Berwick Kaler panto we have enjoyed (we are only bairns obviously) and we felt privileged to be at the very special 'one off' venue of the Signal Box Theatre. We always love these wonderful pantos but this time was exceptional. We were incredibly lucky that the tickets we had bought for the Theatre Royal... More

Fantastic Pantomime despite being in a tent! At railway museum due to delay in refurbishment at Theatre Royal. Our 33rd year and continues to be the best fun for all ages. Well done to Berwick Kaler and his usual gang

Attended this years York Theater Royal Panto - transferred this year to the Railway Museum due to renovations. The annual comedy riot did not disappoint despite bitter cold weather outside. The great cast led by the now legendary Berwick Kaler proceeded to deliver a veritable bombardment of jokes, gags and stunts that ensured constant laughter. the panto delivered on all... More

Christmas in York would not be the same without "Dame" Berwick Kaler, and "the usual rubbish" looses nothing for temporarily being in the National Railway Museum's Signal Box Theatre, in fact, it's even more intimate. The refurbished Theatre Royal re-opens on 22nd April with a new production of "Brideshead Revisited".

It made a change to see the panto in its temporary venue at the Railway Museum and they had certainly made good use of new home. It was difficult to see some parts due to the long stage along the railway line and the back stage staff are to be applauded for their strength pushing the scenery back and forth.... More

Due to archaeologists finding the remains of a medieval hospital under the Theatre Royal during its refurbishment, the theatre had to hastily find a new venue for this year’s pantomime. Fortunately the National Railway Museum had the Signal Box Theatre (a 1,000 seater traverse stage semi-permanent tent structure) available. This made for a unique experience for this year’s panto. All... More

The 2015/16 pantomime is magnificent, brill and just what we have come to expect from the same fabulous cast that has delivered for the past 30 years. Berwick Kaler deserves a knighthood

People I am sure would like an independent unbiased view. Yes everyone will still visit for the panto. People would even go if held in a field. It was rather cold and late starting due to a technical hitch. To start admitting 1000 people 15 minutes before the start maybe your technical hitch. The show started at 2.45pm. Very nice... More

Our 4&8 year olds enjoyed the extra craft and art activities-shadow puppets, masks etc. that were part of the Takeover festival. My 8 year old and I really enjoyed A Journey With Maude-performed in and around the carriages by two cast members. With just 7 people in each audience it was very intimate and a new format for my 8... More
