Quite a cosy pub, especially in winter when the fire is going but the food is somewhat variable. Four of us ate there, the gammon was quite good but the pork was most disappointing with a rather mean portion. My comments to the waiter about this was received with an 'Oh' and he left.

My partner and me didn't eat here but we popped in for a drink as we like to relax in a nice traditional pub. We had visited York for a long weekend for my birthday so we had sampled a few pubs already. The Old White Swan looked nice outside and the traditional feel was felt throughout, a few little... We didn't eat here but the food looked really good. Its a great pub with a range of outdoor and indoor seating areas, quiet and busy areas to suit everyone.

Went in here on a Friday evening mid July with my husband for a few drinks. Very nice pub, it was busy when we arrived and we waited a few minutes for a seat to open up but got one eventually. There was live entertainment on which made a nice relaxed atmosphere.

I want to say big thank you for the amazing service and food that the place provided for the party we had at Old White Swan. I was a bit anxious at the beginning as I wasn't sure if this place would deliver a good service for all my guest 50+people. I just want to say BIG thank you to... More

When in York we always visit The Old White Swan. The pub is full of character and serves excellent food. There's a few bars inside so although it gets busy on weekends there's plenty space. The staff are friendly too.

Not.worth.the.wait...... Seriously... Waited 45mins-1hr for our food to come. And it wasnt even half full. By the time our food came (all we ordered was scampi and chips, a pie and a burger) we're expecting fantastic pub grub but.... It was okay... Mash was good. Would appreciate the waitress telling us that it was going to be a long wait.... More

Stopped here for a quick drink after a day out in York. It has a great selection of beers, friendly and helpful bar staff, and although we didn't eat this time, we have on prior visits and enjoyed it. Always worth a visit whenever we're in York.

Went to York on the 5th July been to this pub many times before and was really looking forward to our sunday dinner having seen the portion sizes of last year.Very disappointed when our meal came 30mins later,2 small pieces of beef, small Yorkshire pud,3 small roast potatoes, bit of veg and gravy, certainly not worth £10.Won't be going for a meal again... We called in to the Old White Swan on three occasions whilst staying in York for a few days, each time sitting in the pretty courtyard overlooking the busy little street, accompanied by our two dogs. The first time was just to take the weight off our feet for a tea and coffee, which was ok, although the coffee could... More
