We came upon the pub during a day visit and we found the open fires and homely decor appealing in a cold winters day. Although we only had a drink, the food being served looked lovely and the outdoors were generous. We spent a leisurely break in our day and it was very relaxing and comfortable, children are also allowed... More

In the past had only ever been to the pub for a couple of drinks, but this past Friday evening, my husband and I visited for a work's leaving meal with our 2 year old son and were very pleased with the food, service and child friendly attitude. The pub doesn't make a lot of this on its website, but we... More

Good pub grub in homely surroundings and good service. We arrived late afternoon on New Year's Day, not much choice left on the menu but what was available was good.

Owned by Nicholson's, oh hang on, who are owned by Mitchells & Butlers (£2.1 bn t/o). A great building and nice staff, who are apologists for the miniscule Salmon dish they offer at over £13 per head. Salmon (miniature salmon?) at around 5" long, a spoonful of potato and 34 peas, along with 8 pieces of green bean, and some... More

We chose this pub for lunch on 10 December with my mother and father in law who were visiting from the Midlands. It has great character and the barman Nathan struck up a good rapport with my father in law which made him feel at home. I had sausage and mash. It was a healthy portion and really tasty. We... Visited today. We ordered gammon with chips with skins & sea bass with spring onion mash & greens. While gammon & fish were nice chips & veg were obviously frozen & mash seemed to be totally lacking in spring onion in other words ring & ping & smash! Mentioned it to bar girl who said chips were prepared on premises... More
