Called in with a couple of friends wanting some decent pub grub for dinner and this establishment came up with the goods. Service was fast and friendly. The quality of food was better than average for a city centre pub. There were seating areas both inside and outside. I would also recommend the local Yorkshire Terrier beer,

Went here while in a shopping trip to York. The food was brilliant, huge portions and delicious. Good selection of drinks and a nice overall experience. Would visit again.

Popped in today, being a York resident we wanted somewhere quiet but good British grub, we knew where to go. The waitress was lovely, took time with my 7 yr old and was happy to explain the "Gin fizz" drink to me and my friend. The kids meal was £4.95 he received a good sized burger, chips & coleslaw. He... Went into the Coach bar section as the other section looked more like the restaurant part. Great old pub, had a loft visible aswell adding to the old style. Good selection of beers and ales. Had a Cornish larger called Korev, was quite nice. Staff were friendly aswell. All round a pleasant place to pop in for a pint.

Had lunch on the May Bank Holiday with friends. The Sunday lunch was excellent, and our vegetarian was well satisfied with her meal. I had the steak and ale pie which was really good. Excellent ale!

Went on the 7th April, ordered 2x J2Os,1x Sharing Platter and 1x Nachos. When ordering the food I was served by a young girl called Emily, I asked for a 'large' Nachos and the rest of my order. When served the food I was given a large with pulled pork, I didn't ask for pulled pork. I don't think the... More

Arrived in York and started looking for something to eat. Walked past the usual contenders but this place looked worthy of a look inside. We loved the appearance and the atmosphere straight away and it's packed with character and warming real fires. Food was good and service quick and friendly. Would go again and recommend.

We stopped here for lunch after spending our morning trooping around the city. It provided a nice backdrop to decide where we were going next - I had the Ribeye Steak sandwich with Pale Ale Chutney which I'd recommend, and another member of our party had onion rings and sweet potato chips, both of which were well received.
