Visited on Monday so House not open but still worth a visit as gardens are beautiful and, despite being so close to a main road, very tranquil. Loved the pond area just south of the house. Peaceful place with formal garden, croquet lawn, wooded garden and shady dell so you can spend an hour or so wandering round here

How I loved this place! It was built for Noel Terry of chocolate fame for his family and completed in 1928. Classically Arts & Crafts style with a gate house and a long drive leading to the mellow bricks and tall chimneys of Goddards. The Terry's brought up their 4 children, 3 boys and a girl here and it didn't... More

This is a well priced York attraction. The guides in the house are very knowledgeable about the Terry family. Gardens are extensive, beautiful and a joy to walk around. You can have tea on the terrace which is a nice touch.

A little difficult to spot on the road into York since the signage is not at all well displayed. The house is a typical example of the movement, with not a lot to see inside, but the small garden is very pretty.

The house is an interesting example of how a millionaire lived during and after the great War. There are only a few rooms available to the public but the house in its decoration and design is enough to depict life for the Goddard family. The gardens are something out of this world.

This is outside of the centre of York and I suggest you need to cycle or drive to the house. The car parking is limited and there is no Brown tourist sign to advise where the house is. We were told that the council want to encourage tourists to use the buses rather than drive, as York has enough of... More

have lived round the corner from Goddards for almost 20 years, and finally visited. Lovely house set in very nice gardens, lots of local history (the Terry family lived there, across the racecourse from their chocolate factory). Guides were excellent, very helpful and personal. Cafe was great too - they really worked hard to make us feel at home.

This interesting NT property opens it's garden and wonderful restaurant for everyone to enjoy. The location is beautiful and we were lucky to have our cream tea on the terrace. So remember no need to pay for admission to the house - although we found the story of the Terry family very interesting when we looked round it.

Had a lovely trip to Goddards today. The arts and craft house belonged to the Terry family. Enjoyed a superb afternoon tea in the drawing room, followed by a walk round the beautiful garden.
