An architectural gem with a chequered past(it was badly bombed with several casualties and fatalities in a raid during WW2) this station is a friendly and cheerful place with something of a buzz about it. There are automated ticket machines, cash dispensers, information and travel advice points as well as timetables and leaflets galore. The usual newsagent and sandwich shop... More

This is the BEST way to travel in England. We rode the train from Edinburgh to York. It took several hours but it didn't feel like it. Lots to look at while riding from town to town. 100% recommend!

I've visited this place many times. York station is beautiful, and is very much a place you'd want to photograph. The place is a perfect example of victorian architecture, and modern upgrades. Since it's a terminus for many local and express services across the UK, it is a busy station, and it can get even more packed when steam specials... More

You don't have to be a fan of trains to feel enamoured by York Rail Station. Homogenised with the aged aesthetics and its sheer grand design, you can truly feel the might of a bygone age. Going beyond the aesthetics, in terms of feature, you can find easily accessible restrooms, that are surprisingly well kept for a rail station. Also... More

This is a beautiful train station. Every time I visit York, I end up taking sometime to just stare up at the ceiling of this place. There isn't much to do at this station, but that's not uncommon.. It's obviously an older place, but they still have elevators available for when you're dragging gigantic luggage around. This might seem obvious,... More

Arrived here to wait for our train to Edinburgh. A lovely station with period features such as the roof and footbridge. So many places to grab something to eat each one looked delicious. Toilets nice clean and tidy. Has to be one of the best stations on the East Coast Mainline.

You get a sense of majesty when your train arrives in York, you know you have arrived in one of this country's best cities, according to information i read at the station York is the 7th most visited city in the United Kingdom. The station dosn't profess to be modern, but it is efficent in it's working, at the moment... More

Not the easiest station I've had to get around, with facilities seemingly dotted about piecemeal. A useful "back entrance" to the famous Railway Museum is handy if you want to go straight there. There is no left luggage facility on the station, but lockers can be found at the Railway Museum (2 coins required £1 and £2) or you can... More
