York Station is a masterpiece of Victorian engineering. The sweeping curves of the platforms and iron roof date back to 1877 when this was the largest station in the world. It is also built on a Roman cemetery and the adjoining Royal York Hotel is said to be haunted by roman soldiers. You will spot a fair number of train... More

Food, drink and toilets available. The toilets are free entry, no charge. Good up to date electronic info boards everywhere. Footbridges and lifts available. Friendly staff keep it clean. You have a 10 minute walk to the city centre.

We arrived and departed from here, and it was quite nice. Easy to navigate around, clearly marked. We had an issue when our train to Oxford didn't show up on the screen, and we had to go and ask what the deal was. The attendant was kind and explained what hat happened, and told us what trains to get on... More

This is one of the most beautiful railway stations in the UK. If you haven't arrived in York by train make sure you come and see it for yourself. It is a Victorian masterpiece.

Arrived in York on our direct train. So lovely to see an original building for a train station which has equally managed to retain character and yet be improved to meet modern day standards. On our next visit to York we shall use the train again as it worked out cheaper than parking the car.

Housed under a vast curved glazed train shed this station sets out to impress from every angle. A beautifully crafted and elegant structure it combines the old and new without losing too much in the process. It has an exceptional pub on the main southbound platform, the Tap which offers a range of fine beers and wines to accompany a... More

This is a spacious and clean railway station with long curved platforms. Like most stations there is a distinct lack of seats on all of the platforms. The left luggage is not actually on the station itself but down the road at Europcar. Turn right out of the station. There are however a few lockers in the National Railway Museum.... More

150 years old but still delivering the goods. spacious and clean, clear signs and plenty of them. Need more seats on the platforms, especially when trains are delayed. Lots of eateries with some real choice. the attached pub has a great choice of beers

York has a very comfortable railway station. The travel centre provides all the information needed and ticket booking facilities. Staff is friendly. Platforms are clean and house cafés and book shops. The waiting rooms have clear glass walls so one can relax and keep a watch for the train from inside. If you have a long wait for the next...
