Me and my partner came to York for the night as our first night away after having our baby. We had a lovely weekend, but unfortunately when we arrived at York train station to begin our journey home we found all our trains had been cancelled! I had been on-line that morning and nothing was posted on-line about the cancellations,... More

Trains I used were running on time and had no difficulty finding my reserved seat. Some of the more exposed platforms can be draughty when it's windy. A few more seats on platforms would be an asset for passengers waiting for their trains.

York station is very welcoming to the traveller. A staffed help point run by Virgin Trains provides help for anyone in doubt about where to board their train. Toilet facilities were clean and tidy when I visited. Access to all platforms is easy by footbridge or if not good at stairs, by lifts and subway, also clean and tidy. There... More

York Railway Station has undergone some renovation since my last visit. The good thing is the inclusion of lifts, but the old Victorian staircases are gone. They were a pain when one carried heavy suitcases. One trip-up and it was whoopsy daisy straight down. Now workplace safety has constructed two sections. A trip-up won't cause quite so much injury now.... More

York station does not have the same feel as it had years ago. The locomotives and trains are much less varied than they used to be. My wife and I change trains here on our way to London or Scotland, and we always enjoy some food while we are there. There is a great Pasty shop near the main entrance,... More

I love taking the train to and from York, it is so well organised, clean and the staff are always on hand if needed. I like the idea of having kiosk around the different platforms for coffee etc. My only gripe is that there need to be more waste baskets around the place!
