If I travel on East Coast and need to change trains, I always try to ensure a change at York. It’s much smaller than Leeds and consequently easier to find one’s way around. And they have a decent number of toilets and easy-to-find lifts. Also, one can marvel at the fine architecture. If I have to go to York for... More

The railway station was a bit too open plan ith lack of markings for where to catch your train. The ammount of space is probably useful for rush hour.

Nothing especially dramatic or exceptional about this station, but it is easy to navigate and the taxi rank is very easy to find from central platforms.

If you are staying at the Royal York Hotel then travelling by rail to this station is the best way - just off one of the platforms is an entrance to the hotel.... so within a couple of minutes of getting off the train you can be checking in : perfect

York station has all the facilities and amenities of a good railway station, with the added bonus of fantastic architecture and historical significance. Not to be missed if you're in York! The station could do with a little clean, with some walls and ceilings rather black and dusty, but some could say this adds class!

Nice Victorian station with excellent architecture. It has all amientites required although only some platforms have modern waiting rooms, some don't have any. The toilets are in a 1960's block which really could do with being replaced. Pleanty of eataries, basic stuff you usually find in a station and of course a WH Smith. It's right next to the National... More

A very nice station and with quite a selection of food and drink for sale. The only downside is the subway lift with smells literally like a bathroom.

York Station is in a high spot above the town and across the river from the Shambles and the Cathedral. The toilets on the station used to be really good years ago but the last time I went they weren't' good. I am not a train buff but if you leave the station and head to the right you will... More

The building has a certain to charm to it - it is also ideally situated for a pleasant walk by the walls to any city centre location.
