We were on a weekend break to York, and someone recommended the Library cafe for a good cuppa. The food and drink is very good quality indeed and a huge mug of tea only costs £1 ! We had a look round the library while there and were very impressed with the facilities available. Excellent place!

This is York's Central Library and is an old building but inside is ultra modern. It has a computer suite for library users to use for free internet and also to use as a word processor. There is an amazing array of books for both adults and children. The children area is very welcoming and bright, they hold toddler mornings... More

Loads of good books with a wide selection of genres. Lots of comfortable places to sit and read as well as a cafe to one end. Very nice staff, good toilets, and computers to use upstairs. Beautiful architecture as well!

The Library is a good mix of the classic and modern. There are plenty of books and study rooms over 2 floors, plenty of events and an excellent and well thought out kids section. The children's books are partitioned off from the cafe with a glass screen, so you can have a cuppa or some lunch and let the kids... More

Well used plenty of people around. Good toilet facilities. Great café with comfy seating. Children area near café so they can just bring you a book to read to them. reasonable prices.

Poor selection of books equals a poor library! I went to do some research for a politics project but ended up going to the library on the university campus as there was nothing relevant to my topic.

Not a traditional library anymore, but still has all the features with a few extra bits. Good place to meet friends or take your children. Has a cafe in the heart of the library, so nice to be able to have a coffee whilst reading a book/paper or surfing the internet. Have met friends for lunch and taken my daughter... More

This library is a lovely mix of old and new so has something for everyone. It has the old fashioned feel of old bookcases and lots of books and a more modern childrens area with lots of suitable books and a good play space. Next to the childrens section is a reasonably priced cafe which includes some comfy sofas.
