Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2 « less

This walk is more of a history walk than a ghost walk, but that suited us. The tour guide (sorry forgotten his name!) clearly knew his stuff and was entertaining to listen to. There were jokes, magic tricks, serious bits and some audience participation. My husband was picked on several times! It was funny. It was only £5 and was... More

Our host for the night was a very suitably named young man called Damien. A very intimate group of just four. A brilliant night of gruesome tales and wicked laughs. It's not a ghost walk just history at its most horrific, definitely recommended, also have a drink at the golden fleece after, the dark quaint pub adds to the atmosphere.

Went on the tour Friday 28th March .. It was very informative with loads of historical facts and information. Damien was wonderfully entertaining and should be on stage!! He involved the whole party of people and kept our attention on a chilly evening. I agree with Sharon S that other groups seemed too large in numbers. Damien even joined us... More

I went on this as I usually choose the ghost walk so went for something different this time. I found it was not really that specific to certain places in York and it could have been told sat round a table in a pub. The guy who did it had good knowledge it just wasn't what I expected I'm afraid...afraid... More

An interesting walk and talk through York's history. Joseph the guide was informative with a tough of humour which worked well. Wrap up warm if the weather is chilly!

I went on this walk last night with two friends and we were all expecting it to be made up scary stories. Everyone in the group seemed pleasantly surprised that it was all historical facts which makes it a lot more scary. Our guide Damien was brilliant. Damien interacted with everyone in our group of ten and even stayed for... More

Excellent experience. Only a group of 10 was on this walk with us, which made it more intimate. We did see other walks with over 50 people on them which i felt was too many so i was happy we chose this one. Highly recommended.

Our guide was Damian who was a very good story teller. York is such a fantastic city and being so old, there are bound to be some secrets and history. Go early to the Golden Fleece pub and get something to eat and a pint. This was better than the ghost tours because of the truth and history behind it.

Chose to go on this ghost walk as we wanted to hear about York's darker history rather than have 'scary' gimmicks. We had just over an hour around the main streets in York and was enthralled by the stories told by Joseph (in a very atmospheric voice). Really enjoyed the audience participation - especially when the boyfriend was called up... More

We thoroughly enjoyed this. So great to hear an honest historical perspective that has not been watered down to make it more palatable. Makes you jump at times, but all good fun. Might go again in the future.
