Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2 « less

My husband wanted to take a ghost trail but I convinced him to take this one instead (less cheesy I said... starts earlier, I said...). We weren't disappointed. Our guide (who's been doing this tour for 3 years) was fantastic. Very animated, threw out cool facts that we hadn't picked up during the day of touring and not cheesy! We... More

We was just leaving the Golden Fleece and noticed the trail was about to start. Good thing we went on it because this was so interesting to learn about things that we didn't know about. Our guide was brilliant, very enthusiastic, warming, fun and involved everyone in the trail. Even I was picked out to help him demonstrate how Guy... More

We enjoyed this tour which is tales of gruesome happenings around York through the ages. Unfortunately the heavens opened (was this a sign) and we had to take shelter. We decided to drop off the tour as the rain was so heavy we knew it would not stop soon. Next time we will go better prepared. Will definitely do this... More

Never been on a walking tour before and really did not know what to expect. Love, love loved it! Damien told us lots of gruesome stories (not ghost stories as this is not a ghost tour) and got everyone involved! Well worth it and good fun, finished off nicely with a pint in the Fleece afterwards!

Really enjoyed this tour as it was more about history and gruesome events than ghost stories lol and our guide, Joseph, was brilliant! really enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Made the stories really interesting with the way he told them and getting the crowd involved. Also added humour to take the edge off some of the morbid tales lol the trip ended... More

We had heard that this was one of the best of the several "walks" about York, and were not disappointed. Our outstanding guide, Ben Rosenfeld, took our small group through the old city around the Shambles, with periodic stops and lively descriptions of events in York's history involving torture, blood, and gore. Also enjoyed decompressing at the Golden Fleece afterwards... More

Had a great time! Really enjoyed it and very informative. Massive shout out to our tour guide Joseph who's humour and kindness made the trail very enjoyable! Also excellent idea to end the terror trail in the golden fleece as a pint and chat with everyone who attended was a fun way to end the night!
