York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

My friend and I went on the tour on saturday 27th, our tour guide Thomas was fantastic! So enthusiastic, full of stories and history and generally just a wonderful guide. From the time we met till the time we departed at the pub after questions we had been in his presence for two hours which I thought was great as... More

Knowledgeable and entertaining. Tim was obviously very passionate about history and it made him engaging and truth be told, wonderfully underpriced. Loved the story about the young girl and the "plague"

I was skeptical, because ghost tours tend to be the most exaggerated, overblown way to learn about a city's history. However, this tour guide did a great job of toning down the sensationalism, instead focusing on the city's fascinatingly morbid history, which he clearly was very well versed in, and eager to share. A perfect mixture of history, morbidity and... More

We met our guide, James, outside the Golden Fleece pub at 6.45pm prompt and were then taken around the streets of York on a tour that was informative, interesting and very gory! No detail was spared - James was extremely entertaining and there was plenty of amusing audience participation! The tour cost £5 and was 90 minutes long, ending up... More

Our guide was Thomas Teach, he was excellent. Very entertaining and enthusiastic but sombre when the stories required it. The tour had a mix of history, gruesome stories, funny stories and heart rending ones. Highly recommended! Smaller number of people than some of the other tours so lots of interaction and chances to ask questions. Audience participation is required, it's... More

After a drink at the Golden Fleece pub ,we met up with our guide at 6:45. The tour was very informative with plenty of real gory historical tales. We passed other tours with dozens of people, so felt quite privileged to have the guide to just ourselves and one other couple. So , a very informative and enjoyable experience.

This is the only guided walk I did. I enjoyed the guide, as he was intelligent, witty, and extremely informative. Sat at the Golden Fleece afterwards and chatted him up. Learned quite a bit of history from him and enjoyed his company. He is an archeologist by training and he had much to share.

Thomas Teach was brilliant. Witty, dramatic (sometimes overly so, but that was part of the attraction), information and well-versed. His tales were more terror than ghost, so it was great to hear another aspect of York's history. A really fun and informative tour ... but this guy should really be on the stage!!! He's brilliant!
