Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2 « less

On a ladies weekend (9 of us) and we all enjoyed this. Approx 1.5 hours. we had to miss the last story in the pub as we had meal booked which was a shame. Great way to see the backstreets of york especially when it went dark...stories were of yorks horrible history - guide/actor was compelling and a bit mad... More

Was in the Golden Fleece pub anyway and tagged into the tour as we had no plans. Although it was absolutely pouring down with rain the tour guide made it really fun and interactive. Best £5 you will vet spent in York!

Some grisly stories expertly presented by the guide . He had a real art of storytelling and got members of the group to help re-enact stories. Some very moving and some hilarious points. If you only do one walking tour make it this one.

In town for a conference, had time to kill on my first night and decided to give one of the many ghost tours a whirl. I'll be honest - we picked this one because it started earlier than most and we thought it would finish earlier, giving us time for dinner! Be warned - it's longer than we expected. Not... More

The tour was both entertaining and really interesting from a historical perspective. He managed to keep the children entertained whilst not missing out any of the more gruesome details of the stories. A combination of "dad jokes" and crowd participation and basic magic tricks left everyone chuckling. We sat down with Damian afterwards for a pint. He's a talented actor... More

My friend is moving to Australia so we decided to partake in some tourist-y things before she leaves. After a swift pint in the Golden Fleece we joined the terror trail. We had an absolutely fantastic time and James was a brilliant host and a mind boggling magician! Would definitely go again!

We went to do the York Terror Trail on Saturday evening and were really impressed with the great value of the walk. Our tour guide was a fantastic story teller - he painted such a vivid picture of the scenes he was describing that you really imagine yourselves being there. There were a lot of stories that were completely new... More

First of all I've seen reviews saying that this walk had no ghost stories and that's becasue it's a terror walk about the horrors that have been committed In York! Me my mother and little sister all went on this walk and were a little dubious about it not being a ghost walk and thought of leaving before it started,... More
