Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2 « less

Where to start? After sampling a pint of York's finest at the Golden Fleece our meeting point, we made our way outside to be greeted by James our guide for the next hour and a half or so. After being given a couple of ground rules (for safety) we were off. James was very informative and delivered the information in... More

At £5 per person this tour is a total bargain. James our guide and was knowledgeable & entertaining. We walked the streets of York and were told tales from the history of the city - some bloody, some terrifying and a few amusing. There was just the right amount of audience participation that caused many laughs. Starting & finishing at... More

Much better than a ghost trail. Informative, interesting, exciting. The guide brought it all to life and made it relevant to today. Not just entertaining, but he made you think. This is a great tour for adults and children as the jokes are on all levels. This is one not to be missed and great value for money.

We took this tour as the t happened to be earlier than the others. We had been on another ghost tour in york and really enjoyed it, we were expecting more of the same but this is less ghostly more informative, which in our case was a bonus due to us being on one ghost tour during our trip. The... More

Really enjoyed the terror tour of York - some of the tales were terrible but so interesting. The guide was fantastic - just the right side of entertaining without being OTT! He even took time at the end of the tour for a good old chat about York and history and humanity!! We intended to go on a ghost tour... More

I found the tour both informative, and very entertaining. The guide was excellent, both funny and engaging. Although the tour was generally light hearted, there were some serious points made about our history which are still very relevant today. It was also fantastic value for money. I would thoroughly recommend it.

My partner and I decided to do this tour over the ghost walks as it was based on the actual history of York's events in the past. The tour started at the Golden Fleece with a pint of Guinness and lasted approx. 90 minutes. The tour guide was excellent, well informed and engaged all of the group, we had two... More

We went on this last night and it was fantastic! The tour guide was very engaging and included everyone in the tour. Brill value for money considering it's only £5 and lasted 90 minutes. Historic and informative with some humour to lighten the grim and dark history of York! If in York I highly recommend you go in this tour.

On a ladies weekend (9 of us) and we all enjoyed this. Approx 1.5 hours. we had to miss the last story in the pub as we had meal booked which was a shame. Great way to see the backstreets of york especially when it went dark...stories were of yorks horrible history - guide/actor was compelling and a bit mad... More

Was in the Golden Fleece pub anyway and tagged into the tour as we had no plans. Although it was absolutely pouring down with rain the tour guide made it really fun and interactive. Best £5 you will vet spent in York!
