York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

Our guide James was entertaining, funny, and a great showman. A nice touch was his excellent speaking voice, so I could hear clearly. Instead of stories about ghosts and goblins, it was a tour with fascinating historical (if gory) details. Wear sturdy shoes, there is some walking on uneven paving stones. Tour started and ended at the Golden Fleece pub,... More

Four of us joined this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it! It's definitely less of a ghost tour and based more on real history and our own fears as human beings. It was thought-provoking and intelligent. Our guide Damien was fantastic! Not only was he a great at telling the stories and the dramatic pauses, you could tell he enjoyed it... More

We have done many ghost tours in different citys but this has been the best. Thomas our guide was ideal to show us around and his knowledge was second to none. We did another tour the previous day and it was very poor. It was just a money making exercise. This though was the real deal.

I went to three different tours while in York and must say that the Terror Trail was the one I enjoyed the most. Damien is knowledgeable, engaging and funny.

Our guide, Damien, was witty, knowledgeable, approachable and really knew his subject. This is not a run of the mill ghost tour but an historical tour slanted towards peoples fears and terrors, both past and future. Highly recommended.

Jamie did a fantastic tour and was so informative, his knowledge seemed factual and unquestionable. He also accommodated for my partners wheel chair well by picking the easiest route for us and talking in easy spots to see and hear him where we could not access. Thanks, was great fun.

I went for a York terror trail walk tonight and I really loved it! Its not ghost walk nor haunted walk its walk were you will hear creepy true stories from the old times (added with little bit dark humour)... Our guide Damian was the best! He really seems to enjoy to tell stories about the people in York. Choose... More

We are on a camping holiday near York and visited for my son's 9th birthday. We visited the dungeon and Jorvik museum, but by far the best event of the day was saved till last. My son is really into history and loves all things really old. The terror trail mixed gruesome true stories with a fantastic history lesson. We... More
