York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

In contrast to other similar tours, this tour is almost devoid of theatricality. By this I mean that our guide, a young guy whose name eludes me did not assume a "persona" but appeared to give of himself. He was prepared to lay bare his political, and sociological beliefs, something that might not endear him to all. I found that... More

If you are looking for an informative and very amusing way to spend an hour or so on a York evening, then you could do a lot worse than paying the £5 to listen, laugh, participate and thoroughly enjoy yourself as we did when we joined this tour. I cannot recommend him highly enough, no matter what age, he seemed... More

If your after a walking tour round York by a very knowledgeable guide that deals in mainly historical fact, dispelling many myths with audience participation look no further. If your after a tour telling stories about ghost, ghouls and other macabre things I suggest you probably try one of the other ones. Our tour guide was Thomas Teach who clearly... More

Thomas teach was our guide. Wearing full RAF uniform he was superb and very informative. Some very light hearted moments and some deeply heartbreaking ones. I would choose this tour before any others and at £5 for 85 minutes it's great value.thomas even came in the golden fleece afterwards for a chat about any other questions on York you may... More

He was brilliant, at times you forgot you weren't back in time with him, really got into the stories and interacted brilliantly with the crowd. From skipping across the road to reenactment of shin being shattered (mostly mine!). Would definitely recommend.

Damian is really good fit for the tour he's suits his role! The tour itself is interesting and shows you places you don't normally notice when walking round in the day! This as no ghost stories it is purely stories on york and it's history. Personally would of preferred a ghost story or two but that will be next time... More

If you are looking for an inexpensive way to tour the Shambles area, with a healthy dose of history, this tour is for you. We were very pleased and entertained. It was a small group - I notice the other tours are much larger.mi thin Damien included everyone in our tour in some way. Very professional stuff with excellent background.... More

Thomas Teach does a great job with this tour. He really gets the group involved, from holding hands to cross the streets, to acting out the parts from the past. You get a lot of content in a very sort time and Thomas is really good about answering questions and knows his stuff. It was a lot of fun, we... More

Went on 30th of June 2015 very very good, even some of the puns. Erroll Flynn pose and skipping over the roads really added to the experience. Felt part of the your rather than just following which you get on other tours. Highly recommended
