Owner description: York Terror Trail, a history tour of the horrors of York. There is a monster, 1900 years old, thousands have died in its name. Like all the best masters of disguise it’s gone by many names: Eboracum, Eoforvic, Jorvic… today we just call it York. It has many weapons: battles, murders, terrible accidents and deliberate neglect. This city has two sides, the one it wants you to see and the one it doesn’t. It hides it down back streets and in the corner of your eye. We shouldn’t want to see it but we do. The terror trail can show it to you…The tour starts 6.45pm every night from York’s most haunted pub the Golden Fleece Inn.Adults: £5Children: £2

Me and my partner went on the Terror Trail, my partner didn't want to do a ghost tour as he said it would bore him so I suggested this one. We were not disappointed! Some audience participation was involved and although it lasted over 90 minutes it didn't feel like it. Genuinely interesting and fun to do. Our tour guide... More

There are 2 walks that set off from the Golden Fleece; one where you meet INSIDE the pub and this one where you meet outside the pub entrance. DO NOT GET THE 2 CONFUSED LIKE WE DID!! This is not a ghost walk, it is a terror trail of real events that happened through York's history. They were very scathing... More

We are sorry that the Terror Trail wasn't to your taste. We leave from outside of one of York's most celebrated historical buildings and attempt to portray horrific events from throughout York's history that can be backed up by a reasonable level of documented evidence whilst treating events like the 1190 massacre of the Jewish populace of York with the... The terror trail was absolutely fantastic and my partner and I loved every minute. The history was fascinating and heart wrenching at times, I can't stop thinking about the poor crying child hoping for someone to save her. Not all of the stories are depressing, some of them are made a little more light hearted with the audience encouraged to... More

Thanks James for a really fun, informative and at times moving narrative. The audience participation is just great and doesn't embarrass. The history lesson is vivid. York streets are a charming and delightful backdrop. One of our group was doing simultaneous translation for her friends, did not spoil the event one bit. This is a must when in York.

What a great way to entertain the kids (and adults) for 90 minutes. Some of the acting might be questionable, but they have taken the concept of a tour to the next level by incorporating the facts and tales into a story involving time travel through the ages. They certainly put the effort in and the odd bit of humour... More

Tagged onto this tour as it looked fun. The boys put on a great show and were very enthusiastic. Really liked the way other actors kept popping into the tour, thus changing the history age. They tried hard to inject humour into the proceedings and on the whole, succeeded. We left the tour early as it was drizzling and a... More

These guys have put a lot of thought and effort into this and it's great value for money too - 90 minutes of entertainment for the family (2 + 2) for £12. Ignore the negative review below - they are simply trying to add some fun and humour into the 'act' and make it accessible to the children who were... More

This rating is the only terrible part of this tour. The promise of tales of terrible deeds in the most perfect of settings seemed too good to miss on Halloween weekend. Unfortunately we did decided to attend and witnessed extreme overacting that RADA would be embarrassed about with tales of no substance. Random characters appeared. ..cue more overacting. .. and... We are sorry you were disappointed by our tour this Halloween. We were attempting to portray characters from York's history in a fun and family friendly way that encapsulated some of the darker stories of York's history, including James Reid (tried and executed in York), Guy Fawkes and Margaret Clitherow on the sites of their reputed dwellings, George Villiers and... We went on the special AllHallows tour this evening, we live locally but it's always good to learn more about where you live! Not at all 'touristy' or cheesy, James, Damien & their fellow actors were excellent! More of a 'nasty things that happened in York' tour, based on historical fact, they were funny, engaging for the entire tour and... More

The people behind this has put a lot of work into it! It was more of a theatre experience than being on a guided tour. The reason why I did not give them a full score is because I had trouble hearing them speak sometimes. I think we were around 40-50 people who joined the trail. Too many, but it... More
